Where did the Greek come from? When Alexander conquered the whole area, before the Roman Empire began, from Egypt to the border of what’s now India, they imposed Greek as the lingua franca across the region. While the conquered peoples continued to speak their own languages, they learned Greek to communicate for trade, when traveling, etc. Just as English is now the common language because of the influence of the British Empire, so Greek was by Jesus’ time. (This was called the Hellenistic era, which lasted through the time of Roman rule. The Hellenes were the Greeks.) Therefore, most scholars believe that Jesus spoke some Greek. Ancient Nazareth was only about 5 or 6 km from the cosmopolitan city of Sepphoris, where Greek would have been spoken. As a carpenter, Jesus and Joseph, as craftsmen, would likely have known enough Greek to communicate with those from the city who hired them. The Christian texts as they’ve come down through time were written down in Greek so they could be read by people across the Roman world. Most scholars do agree that normally, Jesus would have spoken Aramaic, which is very close to Hebrew, and used Hebrew in worship and for reading the Torah. But it’s highly likely that he, like many indigenous craftsmen of the area, spoke some Greek. Not that he taught in Greek. What’s hilarious to me, as someone of mixed Christian and Jewish heritage, is that these gentlemen are busy arguing over ancient Jewish prophecy and what it meant, while denigrating and negating the people from whom their texts originated. The development of their ideas of God and prophecy all came from Jewish tradition (which itself developed from indigenous pagan traditions centuries before, then was influenced by Babylonian, Egyptian, and Greek traditions, but I digress). Meanwhile, both of these later traditions are busy insulting the Jewish people, while imposing their sheer ignorance in order to follow their own interpretations of that tradition. The Jews don’t seek to impose their beliefs or practices on anyone else, but those who distort the ancient tradition can only denigrate the Jewish one to justify themselves. I personally don’t care what anyone else believes. Just respect each other. These arguments are useless and worthless. They’ve been going on for over a thousand years. What argument do they think they’re going to make that hasn’t been made millions of times before? The only result is a headache, which I now have from listening to them yell and talk over each other. Leave each other alone, FFS. Have a nice meal. Enjoy the sunshine. This whole thing is ridiculous.

"Jesus" as in the Idol made by the Romans and painted as a white man with brown hair by Augustine (not the church father, the painter). The historical man "ishua" (as noted by archeological evidance of his real name) also spoken "Isa" in Arabic yes you are correct would not be white.

E.g. the most famous book on theology "the new jerome biblical commentary" when referencing the notion of the historical Jesus upholding the Jewish law, "Jewish Christianity which as a seperate movement was defeated by Paulaism and died out perhaps to be reborn in Islam"...and this is also the opion of HJ Schoeps in his book "Jewish Christianity" who Is a very well known German academic and expert in this topic. Where his quotes (you can find this also in the book "the islamic jesus") "this is a paradox of world historical preportions that Jewish Christianity which faded within the Catholic church (aka Jesus's oringal teachings) was preserved in islam".

A wise man once said: Religion is for people who can't handle alcohol. And he may be correct. All the "mine god is the right one and yours not" "no!! Mine is!!" "No mine!!" reminds me of children. Little children fighting about whatever. What shocked me the most is how the islamic part of the discussion (not only the guy who originally discussed) behaved. At first only short interruptions, then starting to mock, insult and yelling the other guy down and pulling even the microphone cause he couldn't or didn't want to follow the chain of reasoning the christian guy wanted to show. And it was actually a good one if he had listened and tried to understand. Most embarrassing was the woman who started to yell and freak out. I thought it was a kind of discussion battle, a fight of arguments. It ended in a big nasty mess... And as a commentor earlier explained: why should they have spoken greek if LATIN was the language of the romans!!??!?!11!? Such an intelligent point of the islamic guy!!!! Hahahahahaha!! Was that funny!!! Or you just have listened to your history teacher as he told about an inconspicuous man from a small place on earth called macedonia who conquered almost the whole freaking world (the parts they knew about obviously) a short time before all the baby jesus stuff happened 🤷‍♂️

I've just realised something should we as Muslims say "Peace be upon from" when saying "Jesus" as he is not dead - should we just stick so saying ISA (AS - "Alahi as sallam")?

I feel bad for you. Jesus is coming soon for his people(rapture) then it will be hell on earth(tribulation). Turn to the Savior who died for your sins. Muhammad died, Buddha died, but Jesus is alive. We love all of them, peace and blessings be upon them. We love respect, follow Jesus more than. John 1 1 has 2 Jesuses not 1 If the Christians god is a trinity and the word father is not referred to the trinity but to the father alone and the holy spirit word is referred to the holy spirit alone.
