Gotta love that type of setup....plenty of sign, decent weather and the water isn’t chest deep. Must have been a heck of an obligation to pass that up when catches are still happening.

Great video, great place to trap rats. Would be a awesome place for 110 Conibear traps but then why argue with success. Never hurts to just take the excess and leave some breed stock so you have a good producing spot for next year. Again great job looking forward to seeing more. Al

In my five years of trapping focused primarily on water animals, I have never before found a house. Iv found 2 bank dens and countless feedbeds, I think here in western washington they just prefer deep bank dens. Since we only get cages here I usually find the rats by catching them in beaver runs in my big beaver cages, then I lace the area with colony's. Someday an out of state trip that I can use footholds and find houses would be a lot of fun

Here in Utah it’s the same way, in the 12 years I’ve been trapping rats, I’ve only come across 1 house. I’ve always wondered why we don’t have the houses and push-ups that they get out east and up in the Midwest..

Where I'm at in PA mostly creeks and river very little calm water. The current and constant water levels change would wash the huts out. Our rats and beaver dig dens in the back. We mainly look at the bank for the holes and set 110s.

I like trapping videos. I am living vicariously through them. In Colorado, we have to use live traps unless we are doing pest or damage control. Plus, to trap, you have to have a hunting license AND a trapping license. To get either, you have to go through the state wildlife department. They don't make it easy either. So... I live vicariously. Continue making great content!

Here in the Rocky Mountains we have mostly only those rocky streams and rivers like your talking about. I catch most of my rats on fake slides (just slick some mud or sand up on the bank to make a little mock muskrat slide with a 1.5 at the bottom on a drowning cable). 110’s or colony traps placed in the middle of beaver runs/den entrances work pretty good too.
