@@Idkidkidkidkidk69The issue is not China government subsidies. It's the manufacturing cost. Everything the west made is overpriced. Take military for instance. Our budget is nearly $900 billion, China is about one-third, Russia is about 15% but they are turning out more sophisticated weapons woth less money than we are. Same with Tesla is vehicles are overpriced. Why is he cutting prices now to compete after selling at such high prices. The Chinese business model smaller profits more quantities sold. The West is more profit less quantity sold. As the world is facing economic slowdown people are paying attention to how they spend their money.

The Corolla, camry,Civic, slyphy VW's cars should all have the lowest prices in the world. But sales of these cars are still dropping dramatically. This is because there are plug-in hybrids with better safety, better performance, and more advanced technology, more fuel economic cars coming out all the time, but at even cheaper prices than them.

Though Elon Musk is promoting his EV business as the way of the future, there are so many design and implementation problems that scientists and engineers are backing away from the grandiose fantasy once proposed for EVs. For example: 1| EVs are extremely heavy due to the toxic liquid in the battery pack. That gives tires only about 50% of the wear time of a similarly tasked ICE car. 2} EV's have only a small portion of the mileage of typical ICE automobiles. 3) While you can get fuel for a common ICE car anywhere, EVs are different. For example, traveling 3,000 miles coast to coast in the US requires only a few refills in an ICE (Internal combustion) based vehicle, a typical coast to coast run for an EV will involve 10 to 20 recharges. Also, a refill for an ICE vehicle takes only a few minutes. Conversely, EV's deliver only a few miles per recharge and can take more than an hour per recharge. 4) Current battery packs for an EV are based on Lithium Ion technology which not only takes a long time to recharge but also provides only a few miles of travel per recharge Though Elon Musk is promoting his EV business as the way of the future, there are so many design and implementation problems that scientists and engineers are backing away from the grandiose fantasy once proposed for EVs.

US car makers were laughing at Japanese cars when they first started. Musk did the same thing with Chinese EVs. Competitions in China is extremely fierce, you do not innovate at break neck and be cost effective, you are toast. Now, Musk and Raimondo are talking about further tariffs and sanctions on Chinese EV because Tesla cannot innovate fast enough? This same lady was talking about working with EU to slow China innovation back in 2021? 2 things: This is not possible, if there is a will there is a way. China is hell bent on making this happen. (spend your money in creating an environment for innovation in US instead of funding wars around the world) 2. If China was working with Asean or Midde East or Africa and try to slow US innovation, how do you think US and the media will react? China stay quiet and now dialing this forward, in your face: EV they are the best, chips (they are up and coming both on equipment and 5mm and lower chips), what did Musk said about Chinese work ethics? What did Cook say about tooling and die supplier? They have created a barrier to entry and most of these have path dependencies that cannot be replicated overnight. US needs to rethink their budgets, stop fundings all these wars and defense, funnel these to foster innovation!

At the moment EVs are too expensive, battery replacements are too expensive, chargers are hard to find and take too long, and they lose their famously wonderful performance in cold weather. The cars especially don't work cross-country for those reasons, though they may be OK for people who move about only locally and can charge at home.. And for the green crowd, they have to look to where electricity in generated and what pollution is involved at that end. Finally, I wonder how EV users will be taxed for road-building and maintenance when they're not paying motor fuel taxes.
