This was one of the most amazing concerts weekends of the last years. All artists were in the Netherlands for that week and played 5 sold out shows in the weekend. So a lot of artists gave free solo concerts during the weekend. The whole city center was turned into an ayreon heaven. It was amazing! This was the last song (before the encore)

It seems Arjen suffers from acute anxiety attacks plus stage fright and struggles to perform live. I believe he was hospitalized after these shows because of that. It is a testament to him that he even appears on stage at all.

Nice reaction guys. Next reaction ....... watch a whole different Arjen with a song called *_"Before The Morning Comes"_* : kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZKBkj9uBkdibgbw.html This one is a preview single from an album Arjen Lucassen & Robert Soeterboek's PLAN NINE - The Long Lost Tapes (out on May 17th). As Robert and Arjen sifted through their 30-year-old cassette tapes containing theirr demos, they stumbled upon a bluesy, unfinished piece featuring just Arjen's guitar and Robert's voice. Arjen had completely forgotten about it, but felt it had the potential to be something special. He's glad they pursued it, because it turned out to be one of the album's highlights!

Glad to see that you are back with Ayreon and that you liked it. I was at that concert, and as you read, it was an experience. At the Live beneath the Waves show the album 01011001 was performed. Arjen managed to get all but 4 of the original 16 singers on stage (the ones missing were Bob Catley (Magnum), Steve Lee (Gotthard, RIP), Floor Jansen and Jorn Lande), and he also sang two songs. They all absolutely nailed their performances. The binary code translates to the letter Y, which is the name of the planet that became the new home for the refugees from planet Alpha. You heard a part of that story in The Day that the World breaks down from The Source, your very first reaction to Ayreon. For your next reaction I recommend: Into the Black Hole (off. lyric vid.) feat. Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden Amazing Flight live from Into the Electric Castle (with Arjen singing and playing) or just pick whatever you fancy, all the songs are amazing.

Ever since Arjen was in the band Vengeance, he was suffering from stage fright. That's why he doesn't like to perform live anymore. However, he does occasionally appear in songs on stage. That, and the fact that Ayreon is a multi-artist project, inintiated by Arjen, is the reason why Ayreon doesn't tour but only performs once every 2 years or so in 5-6 shows in Tilburg, Netherlands.

Thanks for reacting to this video! I love Arjen’s music good quality, progressive and very versatile. I managed to get a ticket for the Sunday show. Counted the days towards the day of the show. My first real concert in a big venue was Paul McCartney & Wings (in the 70s).And many great bands followed in the years there after. But this was something special, unique! I’ve never been a fan of musicals but this progressive scifi rock/metal music theater really grabbed me. Imagine the planning of such a show with vocalists from all over the world, the stage show, the rehearsals, the merchandise etc. Very great kudos to Arjen, Joost, all the musicians and vocalists, the backstage crew, etc! It was a magical show for me! I sincerely advice you to react to more Ayreon live, because it is so special! Real soon a 2nd ideo of this show will be published on YT. The entire video package will be on sale in May.

How dare you compare Ayreon to Meat Loaf! Nah, just kidding. 😛 ice to see you back covering some Ayreon! You were right on spot with Rock Opera for Ayreon. Every album tells one story in a bigger SciFi universe. And I can only agree with the comments you read. The five days in Tilburg were an experience. It's still weird to see familiar faces in every crowd shot of the video. 😀 If you like the live performances, I suggest you go through the Ayreon Universe show song by song. There is a great playlist on KZread for the whole thing:kzread.info/head/PLJGn3wi7b7b606GfoKAdOgm6rtX9OliRc&si=vJ0VCpHAtcOoMKi3 And as others suggested, have a look at the new Plan Nine single. I tend to hate concept albums. I really dislike a certain British band that are very famous for it which is just an excuse for their guitarist to masturbate his fretboard for the entire album. The two kings of the genre right now are undoubtedly Arjen and Tobias Sammet - Both of these guys can weave a story from amazing songs that take you everywhere aurally and make me enjoy their concepts, and then on top of providing the killer music, they have the pull within the industry to get almost anyone they want for the recordings - which makes me think they are both genuinely decent people, or they wouldn't be able to do it time and again.
