I always enjoy seeing people react to Sleep Token for the first time 😸 I hope to recapture that myself because man, I wish I could hear them for the first time again

Ah yes, favorite from the new album. I was so happy to hear Vessel’s vocal approach in this one and to hear where they went musically especially hearing their first guitar solo ever. So good

Ooh, interesting shout. Have they really not had a guitar solo before? I can’t think of any now that you mention it… interesting!

Telomeres are the portion of DNA on the ends of the chromosome formation. This is the part that is most susceptible to degradation. Another example of Sleep Token's genious.

with sundownign and this album it feels like each album had that one song that stands out as a strong deftones homage. with sundowning it was definitely Gods and with this album it was definitely this song.

Thank you for pointing out the bass line in this track. I get so caught up in Vessel’s vocals and the incredible drum work that I get distracted from the rest of the amazing instrumentals.

You nailed it. I’m a diehard Deftones fan and am now hooked on Sleep Token for this reason.

Go listen to the Deftone's "When Girls Telephone Boys" and then listen to Sleep Token's "Gods" off of their first album... once you hear the influence it starts popping up all over the place. There are quite a few bands coming out that point to the Deftones as big influences (like Spiritbox) and I'm 100% here for it! But the evolution is so interesting... Sleep Token has definitely made something super unique with Sundowning and TPWBYT, as has Spiritbox with their earlier EPs and latest album Eternal Blue.

This song has a Loathe vibe to my ears, which doesn’t surprise me because George Lever mixes both bands music. Also all the double stops in the solo sound very Hendrix-y… definitely one of my favorite tracks on an outstanding album

EDUCATION STATION: A telomere is a region of repetitive DNA sequences at the end of a chromosome. Telomeres protect the ends of chromosomes from becoming frayed or tangled. Each time a cell divides, the telomeres become slightly shorter. Eventually, they become so short that the cell can no longer divide successfully, and the cell dies.

This song along with bands like deftones and loathe incorporate maj7 chords in their music, which have a sort of melancholy and somber feeling.

Steve, how about just saying that was a great song from a great band making great music. Research Blacklit Canopy. Vessel may very well be Leo Faulkner from this Duo group from London. I get the marketing genius behind Sleep Token but come on...they have to reveal themselves. What if they are a very established band already, that decided to do something completely different????

Oh yeah, I went down that rabbit hole recently. I’m confident that’s the real Vessel. But I respect their decision not to confirm anything and stay true to their anonymous intentions. It’s their art, they can do what they like.

Ah man, not cool. It’s one thing if people just like us are curious enough to go looking, fine. The info is out there. Just don’t go ruining it for everyone else. I also respect their reasons to want to be anonymous.
