@@markdecker6190 I've seen her play twice and I've met the family, sorta, mostly the dad. I figure I'll go see them when they play as a family band in December. The videos I've seen of the boy has been pretty horrid, but mom & dad look decent. I doubt they'll match Yoyoka's prowess, but I figure I'll go check 'em out & find out and at least offer them some emotional encouragement and some advice. Yoyoka told me where they are looking to buy a house at & I plan on trying to coax her into persuading dad to widen their target neighborhood to a safe one. I know they've got friends in the area, but I've lived in L.A. for many, many decades and know every nook & cranny. Where's good and where to avoid.

Her skills and the sophistication of her playing makes you forget that she’s only 13 going on 14. She’s so gifted. The little subtle things she does, her ‘feel’, her effortlessness and her timing proficiency you can’t teach. And let’s not forget the music she chooses to cover. I love that she loves the challenge to cover them. Quite remarkable. 🥁 Thank you for your reaction. Will you consider reacting to her earlier covers?

I don't know how she manages to memorize so very many tunes, but she does and can play whatever someone asks her to. I saw her sit in with a band she wasn't a member of, and they just started making random drumming requests of her, and she knew every song they requested she play, without forewarning or rehearsal. A true pro.

I've been following Yoyoka for about 6 years now and her innate talent and ability are just off the charts. She is just an amazing talent and a genuinely good person. If you want to see something cool, check out her 12th birthday Sessions with some of the best session musicians and singers in Japan. One you might like is Joe Satriani's "Satch Boogie", with Yoyoka performing with wunderkind Japanese guitarist Li-sa-X and veteran Japanese bassist Kouichi Teraswa. Li-sa X is another amazing female guitar talent from Japan. There must be something in the water over there, lol. I really enjoy your reactions.

YES! You chose one of my favorite Yoyoka cuts. She recorded this just after she moved to Oakland, so I guess she must be moving with the right crowd . . . . TOP really lets Yoyoka display her funkier side. She can do damn near everything a drummer does. But when she sits back and lets the funk hit her, boy is it fun to watch. Just look at that face!

Hey, great to see Yoyoka being reacted to again 🙂 This really is a sophisticated piece for her to tackle, and does it perfectly. As for her future plans, I think you'd be surprised, and her parents a bit... nonplussed lol. She did say in one interview a year or so ago when asked, that she considers becoming a roadie of all things. Seriously. But then a teenager's mind can change quite quickly, so who knows. She certainly could play for any major musical act out there now.

Thanks Jeff! Great reaction, as usual! YOYOKA is so FUNKY! She's so cute sometimes. On the Patreon call we told her she should do more FUNKY songs because she is such a natural at it and she's always so happy playing funk. She kind of looked at us with this blank look like she didn't know what funk (maybe a language barrier issue), so we gave her some examples, and she gave us her all so cute "Oh, yeah" that she uses quite a bit. LOVE THIS GIRL! She also does most of her goofy facial expressions when playing funk and we made sure to tell her not to stop the faces, we all love them. It's so freaking hard to imagine how much greater than great she is going to be in 5 years (I wrote this before I heard your comment basically saying just this). Right now she doesn't want to be in one band. She wants to "play with all kinds of different musicians, all over", which is exactly what she's doing right now, gigging all over Los Angeles and quite frequently at "Whiskey-A-Go-Go". She has done a lot of session work. She also did like 18 tracks on the world famous video game "Final Fantasy". She recently recorded two full albums as "Ken Okada Group featuring Yoyoka", a jazz fusion release. She is the "Fusion"...lol. She does some really cool stuff in it. She continues to go next level almost every week, like this new one she released. "Mr. Big - Colorado Bulldog / Drum Covered by YOYOKA" kzread.info/dash/bejne/p6iaucyOmKWXgdo.html
