Funkiest bass line ever… and it rocks! Great reaction, Jeff, and thanks for bringing us this piece -what a huge transformation since its early beginnings! I’m sure you’ve heard Pee Wee Ellis’s earlier versions of this tune of his, as well as Jaco’s many renditions of it… These guys are on fire though, faster than the speed of thought-, and such great players 🔥🔥🔥 And despite Matteo’s playing outside a lot, it’s still so relatable with those grooves and licks, I find. Pure inspiration- thanks again, Jeff 🙏

This song is frenetic haha, like it’s damn relentless, but the way he phrases it, it’s like he’s speaking amidst all the chaos haha! I love hearing that kind of thing in songs and music, where like the band and instruments are going full send and the person in charge of melody and phrasing is just kinda there, speaking 😂 ✨ 🎵 Very cool dynamic!

Wow! A 4 string bass is almost a rarity these days; even in symphony orchestras. He has fingers that would probably be spot-on on a 6 string contrabass... Drummer is really laid back & comfortable with what he's playing. Mancuso looks about 14-15 years old...

Check him out playing Donna Lee by Charlie Parker. I’ve seen other guitarists playing this song but Mancuso is clean and effortless, always blows me away and what about the right hand technique 😮

How many guitar players can play flamenco style using all four fingers without a pick. He has rewritten the rulebook on playing. Should only take 10 years to switch from single pick playing to four finger style. Better get started.
