Ohhhh you did Polyphia too! I hope you did more than this. This is my fave song of theirs, they’re insanely talented 🔥🖤
What a change up right!? So smooth, a perfect intro to an album that will apparently have more similar, amazing changes in feel as well as appearances by some R&B and other musical voices. Will be super interesting to hear!

Woohoo! 🎉🎊👏 I’m always happy to hear that CC!
The way they can infuse groovy funk vibes with shred vibes with easy listening vibes is just such a unique sound and mood. I could listen to his on a slow Sunday morning making breakfast or on a Friday night when I want to turn up.

They are really a awesome band. I like the fact that every instruments take a important roles in their musics, which shows that they really put a lots of efforts in their music
I love when other people share my awe with these guys. They’re insanely talented!
I saw this song come up on Just JP's channel yesterday. He got so much hate for it, don't know why. These guys are just way too cool.

That’s too bad. I think when some people watch something that doesn’t resonate with them they become polarized and feel the need to denigrate it.
Watching old heads watch Tim is my new favourite past time.

It was very interesting to me that you referenced Paco De Lucia, John McLaughlin and Al Dimeola as these guys were my "Dirty Loops" and "Polyphia" from an earlier era! The similarity between Polyphia and Dirty Loops is that their technical brilliance is always in service to a great song, never just showing off their chops. A day has not gone by since I became a total Loops-head that I don't listen to at least 3 or 4 of their songs. The same is true with Playing God! Besides sending the link for this performance to everyone I could think of, I play this through my reference monitors at least 5 times a day. Since I love your reaction videos, I was thrilled to find your reaction to Playing God. A side note: I like that you now give the artists the full screen since it's still easy to watch your reaction in the smaller box.

Totally agree and it looks like we took the same path. Ya, sometimes it’s tricky depending on the video but I always want to give the music and the video too priority (hopefully not blocking too much). That’s also why I never pause the music and never will. I was so excited to hear “Playing God” because it brought me back to those roots as well. Picking my jaw off the floor is something I’m perpetually searching for. Thank you for coming along for the ride! 😊😊😊
Great reaction!!! I love how you allowed it to play and minimal comments during them summing it up after the video! I really enjoyed watching you getting into the groove while it was playing. I was like, yep, he gets it!

@@StrateleStudios And their style is so unique. Such swag!!
They’re playing the vocals on the guitar. For instance the beginning guitar solo after Tim’s guitar intro in God is not a guitar solo! It’s simulating a🔥azz rapper coming out hard AF and dropping the first verse! Their music is based on musicians writing ,composing and mixing all genres of music. Creating all the bass parts, vocal structures, guitar harmony’s ,hip hop rap and R&B vocals ,then playing them all at once, together on just a guitar done by one person ,or in this case ,individually buy each of the two guitar players. Polyphia simply mixes all genres of music ,their rock and rap harmonies and their vocal lyrics ,then all written, composed and played on a single guitar ,wether they’re live or in studio! It’s one man doing what a 5 piece band can barely all do together and it’s Ultra impressive to say least. Unequivocally this is next level complicated music with more emotion and structure than some give them credit for! The bottom line is It’s not just music but artistic writing and musical brilliance at some of it’s absolute finest and most genius! As a professional studio musician ,Drummer and lead guitarist I can say I both hear and feel the absolute magnificence of Polyphia! -Crisis
Loved this reaction!

Strong Friday Night + Bossa + typical On/Off "licky" stuff from Tim and friends! This one seemed more "fluent" to me than G.O.A.T. and I really liked the transitions backed up by the video... I really look forward to their future works. Thnx for featuring Jeff btw ;-)

Hi Jeff, Floor Jensen brought me here but I've hung around to see what else you get up to.😂. I'd never heard of this band, they're very good. As you say you are into acoustic, could I recommend the Planet Rock, acoustic set of How's The Heart, featuring Floor. Keep the Faith man.

Hey brotha, thanks for taking a look around. Ya I’ll take a peek at that performance, thanks man!
I’m curious how they will perform this acoustic nylon string stuff live. From my understanding, Tim’s digital effects pedal thing has a really good nylon sound on it. I wonder if they’d use that, or figure out some way to adjust the live mix somehow
@tsunx4blog

Is it effect tho? To me it sounds just like your regular piezo acoustic pickup. Obviously there's some post processing done but core sounds is nylon captured by a piezo pickup.

They're not really acoustic guitars, they're solid body electric ones with nylon strings and piezo pickups. These specific guitars seem to be Ibanez one-off customs for them but they've hinted at possibly releasing these to the wider market.
I can hear Phrygian tones in there from time to time man, and also… Harmonic Minor (that 7th is *really* obvious), so they could be using Phrygian Dominant? it has that Spanish/Flamenco kinda vibe about it… 🤔 ✨

You know when I first started hearing bands like this I was taken aback by the very same thing. I thought, yikes, it’s so antiseptic, unnatural, etc. THEN my next thought was and I’m 59 years old. This is a new wave of producing that I’m hearing more and more of these days and had to open my mind more to wrap my head around it. It’s a totally different feel than what I’ve been used to hearing for the last 6 decades where warmth and grooving and gelling were the goals. This is a new frontier. I get it. I feel it now. I understand what is going on in the production. I’m loving it.

@@StrateleStudios Okay, I just finished watching a gig they did at Dallas Bomb Factory. Crap, they are legit. And the sound I was hearing was not picked off the board, just someone in the audience. Now that tells me something very great about this group. Every set they played had that something. Great showmen ship, able to work the audience and give back the sound with clear feelings. And yeh I take back what I had said about over production. Nope they are doing it live. Not all groups can do that. some are great studio bands, and not the same on stage. This one is. I also know just what you were saying about us older dudes who came up in a different era. That being said. Music is a always evolving living thing. And one must be able to have a open Hart, Mind, and soul when it comes to playing, mixing, and making a master. The studio board and engineer along with the players of the group are one. And if the group is that good, take it to the road. Nothing is lost in the show. Techs tune the venue, and all the band has to do is preform and do what they do best. I just turned 68 today and my link to what's Now is being around the very young with new ideas and remembering to keep my Mind, Ears, Hart open to everything. Peace Brother.

@@ThumperKJFK Weird, because if you watch their live videos, and compare them to the studio, they sound nothing alike, at all. They play simplified versions live, they don't play the harder, more edited parts, they improv over the music (which is fine, but don't act like you're a god tier musician if it's the computer doing the heavy lifting) All in all, I'd like these guys more if it was less of the computer, and more of their natural talent. They ARE talented, they just like to show off their production talents instead of their musician talents. They think they can blend the two, and still call themselves great on guitar, and uh... nah, not in my opinion. Metallica ripping one takes on tape is much MUCH more impressive than 300 notes clipped individually then arranged in pro tools to be a "technical masterpiece"... I just don't like this music, just because of the production, it's all about the "flex" of being the best guitar player, or creating the most technical sounding piece of music that you can. Seriously, look up the way Tim writes his music. He records ONE NOTE at a time, so all of those crazy runs you hear? They're all punched in one note at a time. Sorry, that's just the lamest shit I've ever seen/heard.
