He wasn't underrated in the 80s he was a top rock star within the dark, rock-punk underground scene.

Wild Billy is actually a very intelligent dude. Refreshing. I do so admire the older artists. My generation are rubbish ..

Billy's just the best man, ever so intelligent, eloquent, a character, yet a real character. Such an all round, fatherly, nice bloke.

This is too cool. Love that Billy Idol and Steve Stevens!

He is really made to be an artist and a performer. He has so much passion when he talks about his life and the things he loved/loves. Everything becomes so lively and vibrant. You can almost feel what happened in those times before. He is a great story teller as well.

Absolutely is delightful to see him , happy and very intelligent man . He is still absolutely gorgeous. Think 🤔 I will read his book . Reading is knowledge. We must never forget our history. Thank you 🎶❤️

He's so passionate about music it's insane. That's what I love to see in people who do their thing. Seeing him genuinely love and adore rock and roll is so inspiring. Him hearing that people thought he was an MTV creation was probably the worst insult for him lol

Billy Idol has become something of a philanthropist.

I got into university at the start of the 90s, and they had this odd tech thingy we'd never heard about called the Internet. Sure, it looked like it could have potential but for a long time we just used it to send brief messages to each other (webpages weren't really a thing yet). Then after a couple of years we heard a rock star had gotten himself an e-mail address so fans all over the world could get in touch with him, ask questions and stuff and he could answer them back. I remember thinking that was pretty innovative thinking for a celebrity, using it for real global communication. That rock star was Billy Idol.

I first heard Billy Idol when he was 18 years old -lead singer of Generation X - Immediately I declared he would be a star - he still is -love him so much !!!

His memoir is a must read/listen for Idol fans.

In 1976 I was 14 yrs old and even at that age I totally got what punk rock was all about. Even in darkest South Wales where I lived the movement of Punk was very evident. In those days the skies seemed always grey and the weather was always raining. So much unemployment and hopelessness for the youth.. Dark days indeed. So... I FULLY understand what Billy was saying. You know.... Out of the ashes raises the Phoenix and his name. BILLY IDOL.

Funny were the same born in 62. Punk in Los Angeles was underground bigtime, but punk bands came in all forms and sizes, the bands packed the empty masonic, knights of columbus halls because the old societies were vanishing and teens were full of piss n vinegar, an energy that you'd have to witness it was just a release of freedom counter punch to the 50's & 60's dress and mannerisms, unbeknownst and culturally defunct school districts and due to the end of the east L.A. riot, the nam war in 75, all we had was music alcohol, weed if u were not prone to paranoia and could dose $10.00 a half filled sandwich baggie, which was a way to get busted if u were a victim of ofcourse racial profiling or just constant policemen bullying anyone on their beat.

@@sirandrelefaedelinoge I only met Steve on one occasion, it was in Swansea. He was a great guy to talk to, very down to earth and throughly enjoyed our chat even though it was only for 5 mins! It was really sad he died so young, I thought he was so talented. Ironically I am 60 now and my hair is fading to grey! RIP Steve Strange ( Harrington)🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Off topic (kind of) but when I crashed my motorcycle it was Billy Idol (getting back on his after nearly losing a leg) that spurred me on to ride again. Check out the clip of him riding a chopper leading a hundred other riders through the streets of Moscow at night. It wasn’t planned, it just happened, no doubt like many things in his crazy amazing world.

Just a bit after that accident his doctors told him he couldn't tour, he wasn't strong enough. Well, he went on tour, using a cane to move around the stage. I was lucky enough to see one of those shows. I was completely gobsmacked. He was outstanding , a joy to watch. He gave 200% up there, like the accident never happened. You could tell that he loved what he was doing. A true performer.

This guy kept it's purity. And that's a rare. Love you Billy Idol!

What a book, what a story. So much about Billy I didn't know. He has a big heart - loved how Perri was a continuous part of his life for so many years, playing a major role in his life. Just an amazing story of good times, rough times, and how Billy kept true to his punk rock soul.

closest living singer in rock w/ that same type of charisma and singularity that jim morrison had. unlike him though, hes taken care of himself. a living icon we're lucky to still have around in top form.

Wrote brilliantly his whole career. But the performances....... Saw the rebel yell tour. Magnificent. Unexpected success. True pioneer who truly invented dance punk pop. To the dead next door. That one still bends my mind.fabulous. nothing but love and respect for Billy. Rock on.

Billy might be the Godfather of Punk, but he is also a product of the British education system...so you should not be surprised at how intelligently he expresses himself and the fact that he wrote the book himself. The fact that he's a history buff, loves Star Trek, can quote Abraham Lincoln, makes me love him more as a person than even as a rock star. He's a really great guy and I wish I could meet him and sit down for a great conversation...that IS my bucket list.

This iPhone era is missing out on everything while focusing all of their time recording with the camera. Glad we didn't waste our concert time in the 80s trying to get a video to post on social media 'for likes' We rocked out & enjoyed every moment in the moment, while we were actually there and we could tell our friends about it later!

Inappropriate interviewer, boring and inarticulate, doesn't realize who is she's interviewing. Get another rocker to interview Billy, Kindred Spirits keeping the energy alive

I have no fluency to understand everything, but I realized that he is a great man , honest, and great Singer, Steve plays a Lot!!!!, However that Lady is so cold face that great opportunity.
