Hwasa was actually sick when they did this performance! Her voice sounds so good despite having a cold. That's why she sometimes struggled with a few notes.

I'm always so impressed by Hwasa in this video because singing around a sore throat and congestion is HARD. You have to really have a grasp on your voice and proper musical technique to make split second changes depending on your vocal condition and still harmonize 😅

It's been my opinion since 2010 that "KPOP" doesn't know what to do with women with lower-register voices. There are many examples and Moonbyul is an excellent example: she can really be a lead singer if given "a chance"....

They are the best vocal girl group in Kpop. Even the rapper can be a main vocalist.

I don't know because I feel like Mamamoo and Red Velvet are close with each other, and I haven't seen Big Mama yet but I definitely will check them out!

Fun fact: Solar (2nd from the left) and Changsub (from BTOB) were in a musical together called Mata Hari 😊💙 They also have a part change video on Solar's youtube channel where they sing each other's songs and it's beautiful

I love watching reactors react to mamamoo killing voice. They all are impressed from the intro and every time they wowed, in my head all i can think is "oh it gets better..." 😊 They are amazing. You should try immortal songs medley if you want another live performance vid. Oh also, Solar (the one belting most of the time) was actually in a musical. It was mata hari. She loves musicals and fans really wanted her to do it for years. She finally did one last year and she was amazing in it.

Solar (2nd girl from the left) is also a musical actress. She starred in Mata Hari with BTOB's Changsub. There are some performances on youtube if you're interested.

They are indeed great and awesome singers! I highly recommend their Immortal Songs Performances, it will blow your mind more xD AND I think you need to know that MAMAMOO and BTOB actually had a switched performance in MBC Show Music Core wherein MAMAMOO sang BTOB's It's Okay and BTOB sang MAMAMOO's You're The Best! I'm 68 and got chatted up by 2 women sitting behind me who were surprised to see me by myself. They said the only older people they'd seen at kpop shows were with their kids. Woulda been grandkids in my case ... if I had any children. 😏

RBW just announced Mamamoo are wrapping up their 'world tour' with three encore concerts in Seoul on 16, 17 and 18 June. One day before their 10 year anniversary. @@kudgeond755 I'm 55. Got in to K-pop to better relate with my daughters who are 25, 29 and 31 :) They are all into K-pop. When i told them I wanted to go see MMM. The 29 yr old was like "Let's Go". :) Would have been all three of them. But there were some schedule conflicts.

If you enjoyed this Killing Voice so much, I would suggest watching Big Mama's Killing Voice! Their songs, voices, and harmonies are so *chefs kiss* 🤌💖 They initially debuted in 2003 but disbanded in 2012 before having a reunion in 2021!~

Mamamoo are great vocalists! I am also a big fan of the female lower register, even though I don't hear lower frequencies as well (severely deaf), as they just hit the spot. In this video, Hwasa was reportedly unwell and suffering from a bad cold so she sounded amazing despite her condition. I would also recommend you check out Moonbyul's (the rapper) solo, particularly 'Snow', as she is also an amazing vocalist with a really pretty higher register. Her vocal skills don't really get used as much in Mamamoo cause they already have 3 other amazing vocalists. You should also check out Taeyeon and Wendy! They are considered the top tier vocal queens in Kpop and have such mastery over their instruments. Taeyeon has amazing breath control with that deliberate breathiness in her songs that work beautifully. Wendy only came out with a solo called 'Like Water' not too long ago but it's just so smooth.

The song you mentioned as being vocal gymnastics "I miss you".... let me blow your mind.... it's an old B-side dating back to the beginning of their career (2016) Yeah, a freaking B-SIDE They are famous not only for their harmonies but how they utterly dominate the stage especially with a live orchestra. The make it all look so easy and laid-back which one can only do when one has practiced practiced practiced and practiced. It's a group of 4 talented ladies that not only sing but also write lyrics, compose, are involved in staging their MV's and that don't forget that the fans are the 5th member who without they are lost. FYI, the rapper Moonbyul is the most credited Kpop female artists of all generations, not in a small part because she writes her rap lyrics herself for her solo songs, the groups songs and the covers they preform that don't have rap lyrics in them originally. Oh and she won a TV singing contest against other female rappers. Singing, not rapping. My recommendations for solo songs are Moonbyul : Shutdown - Lunatic Wheein : Anymore - Butterfly Hwasa : LMM - Don't give Solar : Adrenaline - Nada Sou Sou Group songs to demonstrate they don't mess around concerning group vocals Were are we now Paint me I love (too) [the first song they wrote and dedicated specifically as a thank you for the fans in responds to the 'never letting go' => kzread.info/dash/bejne/l6ttmNBxeL3QpdI.html ] Since then they wrote a couple of other songs specially to thank the fans. Mamamoo are far above & beyond than any normal kpop group, they may not have a huge merch & propaganda engine behind them, but their stage presence, their vocals and charisma is amazing, a warning, they've been exploring different musical styles, so you may expect R&B, Jazz, Latin, etc I highly recommend you to see them performing live, although their MV's are quite entertaining.. I see kudgeon d as given you a few recommendations, I second them. It's a good place to continue your Mamamoo journey. Buckle up, it only gets better the deeper in you go. If you're interested in a guide, I'd suggest INTRODUCING MAMAMOO by Purple Hawke. It might be older, but it set the standard and is still the best out there. Quick history, they were turned down by many companies not for their vocals but they were either too old or ugly, RBW trained them for three years, critics told RBW not to bother with them as they would fail, now after ten years they have become very successful artists with many group and solo albums behind them, A K-moo once said they have over two hundred tracks to their name with many credits. RBW is also a training company it is said that people from all over the world come to be trained by the company in dance, vocals and stage, they have well known composers etc and an in house orchestra which Mamamoo has used for concerts in the past.

It's really fun to see a new reactor reacting Mamamoo and can spot on these womans talents 😂😂 Their standing position always the same, so you can recognize them immediately. From left to right are : Moonbyul (Rapper), Solar (Leader, Vocalist), Whee In (Vocalist) and Hwa Sa (Maknae, Vocalist). Mamamoo dont need lead vocal or stuff like that cause as you said and can see, each one of them is unique and has distinct voice. In fact, all of them have solos and all of them are succesfull as a solois. So I always say that seeing Mamamoo is like seeing 4 artists works together into a group name Mamamoo.. Fun fact: Whee In, the one you said has vocal technique (which I say all of them 😁) in reality, her speaking voice is also low. Actually Solar (the 2nd girl from the left) did a musical last year. She played Mata Hari, the leading role. And she got nominated as Best New Musical Artist ftom the role.

You're both fortunate and unfortunate, unfortunate in that you're very late to the Mamamoo party, fortunate in that you have nine years' worth of content to look into. As others have noted, all the women were rejected by other agencies for various reasons, but when they debuted, they came out swinging and were dubbed monster rookies by others in the business. They started out as complete unknowns from an unknown company and had to do everything themselves in the beginning, including their own choreography and hair and makeup. Now their agency owns a 14 story building and half a dozen other groups, all thanks to Mamamoo.

Solar and BtoB's Changsub are close friends and starred together as lovers in "Mata Hari". The romantic scenes were very awkward between them 😂.

You should really check out Moonbyul's (the rapper's) vocal performances, so you can hear the full range of her voice. I promise that you will be glad you did so. Just searching her name and "Congratulations" or "Refuge" should bring up some great live performances from her. Also, you mentioned Mamamoo vocalizing their actions, but this was nothing. Most of the dance practice videos that they release include them singing (sometimes more like shouting) their lyrics the whole time as they dance. It's very entertaining

Mamamoo are known as "Vocal Queens". I think you realized why. Maybe you will like Siyeon's cover of Disney's "Speechless". Her vocal is insane. As for her group "Dreamcatcher" I don't know if it's to your liking because they are known for having a rock sound. If you're going to react to one of their songs, I recommend "Scream". But, just like Mamamo, they transit through various musical styles.
