Regrettable that someone of this decadent age attempts explaining the philosophy of the great Mehndi Saab.His renderings are timeless & all we are required to do with his compositions is to listen and follow endlessly.Shocked am I what Hariharan Jee means to say.

I have never heard any one like Mehdi Hassan Khan sahib in ghazal gaiki in my life, nor has anyone been able to copy his ghazal singing to date..

Hariharanji, so nice that you have posted this as a tribute to Mehdi Hassan Sahab. Anybody may try to emulate him but he is unique. Even the same harkat and murkis sound diluted when others, no matter how accomplished, try to do them. His jowari, sense of proportion in terms of how much to deliver, framing of words, were all out of the world. You have your own unique style. I like your style too. In fact I also won a first prize from Fun Asia Dallas for the rendition of your song Shahar Dar Shahar.. Shankar Mahadevanji was the judge. I rate you amongst the four good gazal singers, Mehdi Sahab, Gulam Ali Sahab, Jagjit ji and Hariharanji..

This is really a wonderful session. There was a time when I used to listen to Mr.Hariharan when he was in S.I.E.S college.He regaled us with his songs. Its so remarkable that he, from south India, could grasp urdu language and excelled in it. And now he is singing Mehdi Hasan and describing the intricacies of ghazal. Hats off to him.
