The comparisons with Sepultura are spot on. These guys love them, and openly pay homage to them. Gojira’s lead singer Joe Duplantier played bass on Cavalera Conspiracy’s first album. Doesn’t get much closer than that.

I just saw them in Melbourne, Australia and look- as much as I tried to look at the other members Mario just took my breath away . The drum sound was thunderous and they have the best live sound of any band I've heard, especially in a small venue like Forum.

This was the greatest stuff I’ve heard someone talk about with Gojiras music. Your breakdown of this song were just all of the feelings and thoughts I had when I listened to it, put into words 🖤 just awesome. Thank you!!

Hi, have you seen new Pink Floyd song? "Hey, hey rise up!" with Boombox vocalist - based on Ukrainian song. I can only say it's the saddest and the weirdest timeline man. Boombox singing with Pink Floyd, insane. Also wanted to suggest songs by Timur Mutsurayev (Тимур Муцураев) - for example "Мама приезжай и меня забери" - very sad and beautiful music. Sorry I'd donate on patreon in peaceful time but really all money no goes to help internally displaced friends + support the defense and it would be kinda not ethical to spend money on entertainment basically. Thanks for you vids. Cheers.

It’s so subtle but the chord change at exactly 4:34 is so enormously beautiful to me. I believe it is the only time in the song that combines that backing chord and the chorus melody. It is perfection, and absolutely awe inspiringly beautiful. It happens at 25:26 in the analysis and received a well deserved “oh f_ck yes” expression from you :). The chord change and and following resolving chords are just epic.

Studio version please! I love Joe’s voice, but the live versions kicking around on YT don’t do the song justice. Most Gojira songs live.. yes. This one.. no.

You were thinking of heresy bz pantera with the harmonics in the opening riff :) Cool to see you return to Gojira! I'd love to see you reacting to their older more "heavy" stuff, for example "Clone" or "Remembrance". Cheers Mate!

Cool to see you compare Gojira to Pantera, I've always felt Gojira loves to go into some groove metal. Heresy, from Cowboys is the song you were thinking of. Something about bands with brothers in them just makes them something special.

I once described Gojira to someone as If Sepultura and Pantera mixed with a Tool and Meshuggah baby. The groove thing for sure, and the odd time signature stuff.
