Spiritbox and Jinjer use recorded tracks in concert to fill the songs. I recommend you Spiritbox -The Mara Effect Live at silver sound studios is a 16 minute presentation. But it is an amazing piece, if you are impress with them in studio you will be more impress with them live.

Zev has been with them since before covid, but was considered a fill in. He was on Holy Roller and Constance as well but wasn't allowed to be with the band due to him being stateside.

Excellent reaction to an excellent song. The pandemic has born unexpected fruit in discovering bands like Spiritbox and Jinjer. Innovative, experimental and not afraid to mix the genres up.

"How do they reproduce this live?" I'm about to find out because they are playing at Louder Than Life and I FINALLY get to see them. I cannot convey my excitement in mere mortal words. That was the fastest purchase of VIP tickets I have ever made.

Love when you play it on the piano and it still sounds beautiful. Lots of people out there are very ignorant to metal and how poetic and melodic it can be. I love all types of music but only metal music can excite me so much.

I couldn't possible agree more, there's just something special about the melody of this song for me, it gives me goosebumps and hearing it like that made me realize why. It's such beautiful melody 🥺🤘🏻

Also another band you haven’t checked out as far as I can tell, is Unleash the Archers. Killer band that has a sound that brings 70’s rock and metal all through the decades till present. I think you would thoroughly enjoy them. Another female vocalist. Would be awesome to see your take on them

I’ve been waiting for your take on this since it came out a few weeks ago! Great video as always David! I literally get goosebumps ever time I listen to Spiritbox. Quickly became one of my favorite bands. They never disappoint. And live they are insanely sharp. Courtney has live one take vocal videos you could react to and they have full live videos as well. They almost sound better live than on record

You got it right, I’ve been in metal bands for 13 years now and the backing tracks panned to one side with a splitter for headphones and a click to the other side for the band (especially the drummer) is how they recreate it live.

dude, this is how low budget bands do it (including my band xd) because it makes the backing tracks mono and you dont want it in this type of arrangement. Ideally you have a computer with song (or rather show) session in your DAW and tracks (including click of course) go out to the mixing console through multioutput audio interface so you also have option to balance and mix separate tracks on the fronthouse/monitors :D

The second half of this song just Takes it into the Stratosphere. Absolutely fantastic job, Spiritbox.

Yeah, they’ll use a click/multitrack live to reproduce some of the aspects of the swing. It’s becoming way more common in the underground metal scene for bands to do that.

React to one of Michael's guitar playthrough videos of a Spiritbox song. There's so much going on instrumentally. He's unbelievably talented! The whole band is on a whole new level.

Having seen them live, and knowing them personally, they’ll have tracks for some stuff, but they won’t completely rely on them to perform. They’ve performed to a click since day one, so that’s nothing new to them. To get into things a little older that broke the barriers for them, check out Kittie. They’re also Canadian, and played mainstage at Ozzfest as teenagers back in the day. Also a Canadian band, but a totally different feel, check out Softcult.

I was hoping you'd react to this song when it first came out. I've had this song on loop since its debut. If you wanted to keep digging into their older stuff I highly recommend Perennial and Electric Cross. I prefer Perennial ever so slightly, but I'd love to see a breakdown of the complexity of Electric Cross.

I really view music and its theory as a language that you can use to express different things, and thats why people who have played music and learned music theory can do stuff like that, because they speak the language of music. Holy Roller was programmed drums, as far as I know. He isn’t an official member as of yet, but is their current touring drummer (for now). Nothing saying he won’t become a member, but like Courtney said on her podcast “why would we bring a drummer in we don’t know.”

I loved this a lot. I really enjoy how in depth you go into reacting to music. This song was a banger for sure! I also do have a band suggestion you can react to if you want David. The band I suggest is Holding Absence. They just released a new record called "The Greatest Mistake Of My Life" last month. I think you'll love the record because it has a lot of layers to it musically and vocally 🤙
