They are amongst my favourite from Billy. Especially Goodnight Saigon and Leningrad. But Billy is perhaps the greatest musical storyteller, each song is a perfect picture. I love also Goodnight my Angel and Downeaster Alexa, but also other dozen of his songs...

Billy’s dad was a very good piano player, but didn’t do it professionally. Billy started lessons at 4 and had a natural talent. His parents divorced when he was 7 and his dad moved back to Europe, so Billy grew up without a dad. This was written about his relationship with Elle McPherson who he dated before Christie Brinkley. Elle was an up and coming 19 year old model and Billy a newly divorced thirty something. He knew it was never going to be a practical relationship, but got involved anyway. Beautiful song.
