Angelina is one of the most addictive singers I have ever listened to, & one of the very few, that can pull you right into the song, making you feel, every word, every note, & every emotion. ❤💙 I always have this feeling that Angelina is not only channeling some of these late great singers, but that they also pass through her, when she is singing their song,& is why she can capture the true spirit of the original singer ❤💙 A rare beauty, in every sense of the word ❤💙 Loved your reaction, and you are in the ride of your life with Angelina!!!

Great 1st reaction to Angelina. Don't worry, when she sings a song that requires power & high notes she will blow you out of your chair. And better yet, when a song requires low notes she will blow you away with her rich, robust sounds that you've never heard before from a child. She doesn't do it to impress, as many child singers do, she does it only when the song requires it. Liked & subed for more Angelina reactions.

I have to agree with other's comments. If there's any song sung by Angelina where it's important to go back and listen to the original, this is it. It's hard to explain other than to say it's unbelievable. I loved her performance. After listening to it perhaps 6 or 7 times, I listened to Billie Holiday. Only then did I truly understand the reactions of the judges and their tears. I had tears of my own... The soul... the emotion... It's incredible. It's too easy to speak of a God given gift or talent. Angelina is truly a gift to us all. What's so special, is that she understands and respects her takent; even at a young age. In her song about her family "Shield", she sings "I'm sorry for what I am"... This from a 12 year old appreciating her family's sacrifice and support. No family can be prepared for Angelina. And, Angelina understands.

For everyone who thinks "why does a 7 year old girl sing a song like that??? " Here is a quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Audions NTG 2014. "The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but" Gloomy Sunday "was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on KZread before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song "Glommy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song. " 💯 *AJ* 💯 BTW, Angelina's mother Sara said in an interview when Angelina was about 11/12 years old, *only Angelina chooses the songs and she only sings them the way she imagines* . 🤗🤗🤗

What people don`t know about Angelina however, is that she`s deaf in her right ear. This didn`t stop her from pursuing her passion for music, and she has even said that her deafness gives her an advantage when it comes to pitch. Despite her young age, Angelina has already accomplished a lot in her career. She has even performed at Carnegie Hall.

In all these years I have listened to she thousands of times in hundreds of splendid interpretations and yet every time I see this first performance of hers at the age of 7, it makes me move again, like the first time, with that wonderful concentration of humility, simplicity, candor, sympathy and talent. Angelina's musical vision transcends the ordinary and she always manages to give an innovative reading that makes us appreciate and love the songs better that sing, at any age she does. This gorgeous girl has a musical sensibility and expressive ability that is beyond my comprehension.💛🧡❤

Norwegian born Angelina Jordan began singing at the age of one and a half, and by age three was listening to jazz and classics legends on repeat. Her grandmother was her greatest influence, but Angelina chose her own path. Her first studio performance was at age 7, singing I Who Have Nothing. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of only 8, singing old time classics from Billie Holliday and George Gershwin, and became the youngest ever vocalist to win an international Got Talent Show! Her performance at 9 years old of Screamin Jay Hawkins, I Put a Spell on You is considered one of the finest recordings ever of a 9-year-old vocalist! Angelina also went viral on America's Got Talent the champions in 2020 with her unique versions of Bohemian Rhapsody and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Angelina sings in English which unbelievably is her third language! She is a true prodigy. She is now 17, and has recorded a huge library of songs, including covers and several originals. A major attraction to Angelina's music is the emotion and attitude she conveys, although she has not experienced the life events! She is known as the barefoot princess of 1,000 voices as she can adjust her tone, style, and register for any song or genre. She was signed by Republic Records almost two years ago. She has not been widely promoted yet, as her family wanted to allow her a normal childhood. However, she graduates school this year, and her new album of originals should be released within the next few months, followed by a world tour, possibly this summer. Here is a link from ages 6 to 17 of over 100 Angelina chronological KZread performances with five originals. Here is a more comprehensive playlist of approximately 180 videos including tiktok and Instagram. Why does Angelina sing barefoot? The answer may bring a tear to your eye. It is related to a promise she made to herself and to the world when she was only 6 years old. She was traveling in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own favorite shoes. Angelina ask the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said a doctor, but she could not because she had to take care of her siblings. She asked Angelina the same question and Angelina said I want to sing for the world. The young girl said she would pray for Angelina. Since then, Angelia has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. She even donated her winnings from Norway's Got Talent to charities. She is a special individual, and one you cannot follow without developing an emotional bond. Angelina captures hearts because she is humble and has compassion for humanity. Her stated goal from childhood was to sing for the world and spread love and peace. I trust this will cause you to embrace her as millions of others have, and that you will continue down the rabbit hole from which you will not want to escape. Peace and love. Angelina Jordan (born Angelina Jordan Aster; 10 January 2006) is a Norwegian singer whose audition for the 2014 season of Norway's Got Talent, singing "Gloomy Sunday" in the style of Billie Holiday, became a viral video online and brought her worldwide press coverage at the age of eight.[1][2] She went on to win the competition with her performance of George Gershwin's "Summertime". Since then she has worked to raise millions of dollars on behalf of environmental causes and children's charities around the world. She always performs barefoot, after befriending a young shoeless girl and giving her shoes to her. Jordan wrote a book about the experience and became the youngest published author in Norway. Great idea to start with her first audition. You picked the best video, IMO. That night the video went around the world for 3 million views. I think it is a great idea to finish out Norway's Got Talent, then maybe catch her 9 yo music video performing live in studio her arrangement of "Screaming" Jay Hawkins 1956 original, "I Put A Spell On You." After that, go for that AGT Champions audition at age 13---her own arrangement of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody." Then do something from last year, 2022--several music videos to choose from, etc. Then you can also go back to earlier times where there are some very impressive performances. She explored her voice, many genres, and always with evidence of her early roots in jazz. Your heart and soul need to hear more of Angelina Jordan's voice. Thank you for a great reaction. Here is a quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Auditions NTG 2014. I heard the song "Gloomy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song. " ♥👣👸🏻🎷 In a interview after this performance Angelina's mom was asked why she was crying during her performance?? Were they happy tears?? Mom said; " They were happy tears but they were also sad tears because I know I just lost my daughter to the world. ♥👣👸🏻🎷 Gloomy Sunday. You'll notice the last judge (the one with his mouth open) asked her if she knew what the song was about. I believe he was asking to see if she was aware of the history of the song. That's because 'Gloomy Sunday' is known to history as 'The Hungarian Suicide Song' and was banned in parts of Europe during WWI because many believed the song had led to a rash of suicides in the population. Angelina, unaware of this at the time, I'm sure, simply replied Yes, it's about a sad Sunday and I think the judge was pleased to realize she had a child's view Though she has said she understood the lyrics of the song and it's meaning because she knew English well. Thus the comment in essence Yes I could feel that sad sunday. Amazing Angelina would start her career with such a controversial song.♥👣👸🏻 What you will soon realize is that Angelina today at 17 Angelina is already the best Jazz singer on the Planet! IMO Soon to be one of the Best Vocalists of All Time. ♥👣👸🏻 Angelina won Norway's Got Talent when she was 8 yrs old after starting the competition at 7 yrs old. The youngest winner of any Got Talent show on the planet. She had to wait two years because you had to be 7 yrs old to enter. She started with a rendition of Billie Holiday's 'Gloomy Sunday' which she just infused with Billie's soul. She followed this by another Billie classic with a pitch perfect rendition of 'I'm a Fool to Want You' acapella. Her next performance was a beautiful rendition of 'Bang, Bang' by Sonny & Cher and performed most famously by Nancy Sinatra. She won the competition with what I consider her first Masterpiece performance of 'Summertime' by George Gershwin. Shortly after winning she was designated a National Treasure by the Norwegian people. ♥👣👸🏻 There is video of Angelina recorded by her mother Sarah Astar singing a couple of lines of "I Will Always Love You' by Whitney Houston when she was 18 months old. She started studying all the greats of Jazz soon after under the guidance of her Iranian Grandmother Mery Zamani a child prodigy in her own right as an artist and poet. English is Angelina's 3rd language behind Norwegian and Farsi along with Japanese and some German and perhaps more. She did this from 2 & 3 yrs old by scrolling thru KZread of all their most Iconic performance. Angelina doesn't just mimic these greats, she reinterprets them and then simply sings them the way they were meant to be sung. She makes them her own. Angelina was begging her mother to go on "that Simon show" when she was 3 yrs old. encouraged to sing children songs, she would have none of that. Angelina chooses her own songs and she is absolutely fearless. No song is too big and no artist is too Iconic. All the most Iconic songs by the most Iconic singers in music history. Angelina has said singing to her is as important to her as breathing. ♥👣👸🏻 She will sing anything Acapella at any time and often does. Her Tic-Toc is full of these impromptu performances wherever she might be whether in the car, walking around the neighborhood or in a parking Garage. Accompanied by most often a simple guitar or piano her performances are always incredible. Add a band or even a full orchestra as in her performance for Quincy Jones at his request singing his arrangement of 'Fly Me to the Moon'. The same arrangement he did for Frank Sinatra. This opened for his 85th birthday celebration at the 02 Arena in London. ♥👣👸🏻 She is well known worldwide in the industry. Her family and Angelina have been holding back turning down many of the biggest in the industry while she finishes school. Remember she just turned 17 January 10th. They finally signed with Republic Records about three years ago after getting a deal that gave her control of her artistic vision and has since released 2 originals, 'Million Miles' & '7th Heaven' plus a soundtrack for the New Movie "The Hating Game" which opens with her song 'Mercy' performed most notably by Duffy. Republic has labeled her their Highest Priority and assigned a team to her including Rob Christy a multiple Grammy Winner, often on the piano in many of her performances and a whole team of equally qualified professionals. She has worked with some of the best musicians in the industry and always get exactly what she wants. They call her the Boss and have immense respect for her. She is due to release her 1st album promised by Angelin to be soon. She has been diligently perfecting her craft since winning Norway's Got Talent singing all over the world, Germany, Japan, Korea as well as TV appearances such as The View, Little Big Shots and most notably America's Got Talent where she premiered her Iconic Performance of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' which Queen gave her the rights to record her own version available on ITunes and Spotify included on her Album 'Magic' which she released on her own along with a Christmas Song collection. She didn't win AGT because she would not sign with Simon. IMO. She has also sung for Many Heads of State including Barack Obama and a couple of songs opening for Norah Jones in Korea. She also sang at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert at 8 yrs old for Malala and another recipient. Mostly she has sung for charities helping raise millions for children charities and climate change. The great part is that most of it has been well documented often by herself and her family. Her Grandmother who introduced her to Jazz at 3 & 4 yrs old is behind the camera more than anyone else. Norway proclaimed her a National Treasure shortly after she won NGT. Love the reactions. Get ready for a deep dive. She is worth it! Love from the Land of Vikings here in mid-Minnesota USA wherein lies a huge proud Norwegian population. ♥👣👸🏻

This was a very nice first reaction to Angelina. You are right that Angelina sings straight from her heart. When I first heard this performance I was not familiar with the song, and only after I listened to Billie Holiday's original version could I fully appreciate just how remarkable this performance by Angelina was. As you react to her more you will start to understand how incredibly versatile she is, and how different she can sound across different genres. Today she is 17 and signed with Republic Records, with a new album due out soon!

The first vocal performance that I had heard was by Sarah Brightman on her album in 2000. I liked the song and looked into it and found that Billie Holiday had recorded it which became the most well known version. It’s originallt a Hungarian song from the 30s. An instrumental waltz version is played in a dancing scene in Schindler’s List. The most known lyrics to the song (translated to Sad Sunday) are about someone contemplating dioxide after their lover had died. Interesting choice of song for a little girl.

You are at the very beginning and I hope you continue on your journey because there is a lot to discover, she is the best singer in the world (my opinion) but you will find out for yourself and believe me you become just as addicted to her voice as all other fans (angels), she is also called the barefoot angel with 1000 voices, why she always performs barefoot is another story, she can adapt and improve her voice to every song and also transport many emotions and she has not only written around 170 covers but also 5 originals by her as well as 2 written for her which are all amazing and legendary even now and lots to tell, i look forward to more reactions and subscribed to you now, greetings from Germany, by the way she is now 17 years old

One of the things I've noticed about this and her other NGT performances is that, unusually for a contest like this, Angelina never goes for a belt. All 4 of her performances are subtle, precise and brilliant. She CAN belt, she just chose not to. Angelina is one of a kind. 😎

You really nailed it hearing her first time. She will continue to impress you regardless witch song she does! She got lows (How great thou art at age 10) and highs (I got nothing by Whitney Houston studio recording at 16). I was watching her live at concert in Norway at Kongsberg 7.July! She was amazing and it is my best concert ever! You are really in for a treat here. Great reaction and i subscribed you. I watched this video live at NGT 2014 and i voted for her win and she got 46% of all votes given at the final, so she won clearly. Hope to see more of your reactions to her. There are so many things to her to her as an artist.

Angelina's mum didn't want her to sing this song because of what it is and is about...it's nicknamed 'the Hungarian suicide song'...so there's a lot more going on here than just a tiny girl singing a song. She had to arrange it to exclude verses that spoke directly about suicide and change some of the words in the ones she sang to steer her version away from death, and be more about sadness or depression..."black hole of sorrow" instead of "black coach of sorrow"..."little white flowers were never a waste on you", rather than "little white flowers could never awaken you", and maybe a couple of others....cos her mum wanted her to sing something more like a children's song...so when she seemed so confident when asked if she knew what the song was about - she was right

Great first reaction. You are right about the difference between this performance and most other talent show performances. Most others try to be flashy and show how loud and high they can sing to try to impress especially since they have a limited time. Although Angelina can belt if the song calls for it (maybe not at this age) her style is more about emotion, subtlety, nuances and storytelling. She already has that at this young age. She can touch you deep inside with her voice and can make you cry as shown by the judges reactions throughout the run of the show. I’m sure you will be getting many comments from others giving you information about her and provide many suggestions for future reactions. Some will provide links. The usual go tos for new reactors to Angelina are I Put a Spell on You at age 9 (black and white version) and Bohemian Rhapsody at age 13 from AGT the Champions. Have fun with your Angelina journey, many great performances to go.

You couldn't have picked a better performance to start with, if you ask me! It was my first video of her too! And I grew up with the music of Billie Holiday. It really felt as if Billie was in the same studio to "guide" Angelina! Haunting thought! And performance! So glad that you recognize that singing is all about conveying the emotion, whether it'll be soft or loud. Indeed there are too many singers focusing on belting impressive high notes. After a while that feels more like a circus act. If you continue to follow Angelina you will soon find out she has the most versatile voice thinkable (insane skill set) and is all about sharing love and beauty. All in a very musical way!

All the talk about Billie Holiday being reincarnated into her at 7 was because of this audition at NGT. Listen to both and you will think it's Billie singing both renditions. She shows this 'vocal chameleon' ability soon after NGT when she sings 'Dinah Washington's classic, 'What A Difference A Day Makes' and you soon begin to realize she can emulate the vocals of numerous A-list singers, even one as special in the non- jazz, 'pop' genre like Adele. She is the most versatile singer of different genre excellence that this planet has ever produced.

This song has been referred to as “the Hungarian suicide song” because of the intense tragedies associated with it. To hear a seven year old girl sing it with such tenderness and sincerity is heart-wrenching. That’s why the male judge asked her if she knew what the song was about. Her reply was just perfect. I wouldn’t be surprised if she had a deeper grasp of its meaning than what she revealed.

I guess, since Angelina around age 4 - 5, connected to the music of Billie Holiday and other classic jazz stars, from grandma Mery`s records, and what she was abel to look up by herself on the families I-pad, - she kind of had her first "schooling" of music from these great legends. There is no doubt Angelina took away a lot from those lessons alongside Billie Holiday. And the way she put to use those skills she picked up from her, is simply stunning. Makes my jaw drop still, almost a decade after I first heard her singing this. Angelina has said a few times that "Without BIllie Holiday, there would be no Angelina as we know her today. I for one, can totaly belive that. Despite her spesial connection to jazz, she always had love for music in general. Her path in music has always been to try out any kind of genre. She has taken great inspiration from Adele`s music even from her very early years. And mother Sara made a short video sequens when 18 month old Angelina sang allong to Whitney Houston song "I will always love you.

Great reaction to a vocal tour-de-force! You've done it now. You have fallen into the vortex of Angelina Jordan who arguably brings the most confident, versatile, seemingly effortless, and fearless vocal artistry found today (whether measured across artists, genres, or decades). You may think this an exaggeration but listen to a few more of her many performances (160+ covers plus original songs - all on YT) and you will see! She has been performing at a high level all over the world since age 8 when she won Norway's Got Talent singing Billie Holiday, Nancy Sinatra, and Gershwin. It is the rare singer that can, as Angelina has done, go from Queen to "Screamin" Jay Hawkins to Adele to Elvis to Whitney Houston to Michael Jackson to Etta James to James Brown to Amy Winehouse to the Beatles (and many others in between) and do them all justice! If you want to hear music, listen to anyone. If you want to feel music, listen to Angelina. She will stagger you with her ability to find and bring forth the 'essence', the emotional message of nearly any song. You have far to go with Angelina. She is equally comfortable and equally able to impact us whether singing a cappella, accompanied only by a piano or guitar, in front of professional studio musicians or a 40 piece military band. With her immense vocal toolkit, arranging ability (yeah, that too, since about 8yo or so) and the work ethic to make what she does only 'seem' effortless, she will hopefully be touching hearts for a long time to come. Why God has performed the miracle of touching the world with one of such talent, musical IQ, commitment, and generosity as Angelina we can wonder but we must all marvel. Welcome aboard the AJ train! Please react to more of her impressive library. You didn't perhaps focus on the fact that she speaks in Noregian but sing in English (her 3rd language btw).

I am a HUGE Billie Holiday fan. She was a blues and jazz singer of the 1930s and 1940s . She too had a soft voice. Sometimes the belting it out is just SCREAMING. Idont automically equate loud voices with better singing. Billie Holiday could outsing most of these so called singers of today under the table . She would be very proud if she could hear Angelina sing her song

I'm sure you've already gotten this info multiple times, but there's already so many comments here I'm not going to look through them all to find out.🙂 Yes, the woman who hugged her immediately after she exited the stage was the host of the show. I don't think we actually know the identity of older woman who hugged her next, but the guy with the frizzy hair who said she sang jazz "like a god" is a friend of the family (I don't think he's actually related to her in any way). He has a YT channel, BTW, and has posted various videos of AJ over the years. The man _behind_ the frizzy-haired guy and the baby he is holding are Angelina's father and sister, respectively. And then her grandmother (mother's mother) is seen at the very end leaving with Angelina and her mom.

New subscriber - thanks to your great reaction to & appreciation of Angelina's incredible audition performance singing a classic Billie Holiday song. When she was asked a few questions by the judge before she began - she seemed a little nervous. But once she started singing, she sounded like a seasoned professional. And even though her native language is Norwegian, she sang in perfect English - at age 7. Now 17 - Angelina has well over 180 cover songs & some originals readily available on KZread. But - in order to get a better understanding of her musical roots, I highly recommend continuing with het last 3 NGT performances (I'm A Fool To Want You, Bang Bang & Summertime). And - to really appreciate her raw talent, you need to watch her back & white performance of I Put A Spell On You (which she also arranged) - at age 9. Thank you. And may GOD continue watch over & bless Angelina Jordan.
