Skinshape is the project of British musician, William Dorey (from Swanage, Dorset). The music is inspired by many genres, but in particular 1960s-70s Funk, Soul, Reggae, Psych, African music, Library music and Folk.
Skinshape grew out of a love for old music and the way it sounded, from the songwriting through to the studio production. Initially Dorey experimented with samples (especially drum breaks) to create instrumental hip-hop/trip-hop tracks, but then later started to play around with tape machines and old valve studio equipment as a means to create his own 'samples'. This process gave birth to Skinshape, with all elements being recorded by Dorey (a.k.a. 'sample-free') since the first self-titled album, released in 2014.
Aside from the Skinshape project, Dorey was bassist for the band Palace from 2014-2017, has toured briefly as guitarist for the band Monophonics, and also runs a reggae label called Horus Records that reissues rare releases from 1960s-1980s Jamaica and records original material at the same studio used for Skinshape in London (see Lo-Fi Showcase Part 3).

☮️🌈❤️🩹✌️ listening to this mix while painting and calling authorities to stop 🛑 the violence where I live. I am a peaceful nonviolent person and so is most everyone else where I live. We are united in rooting out the offenders and this music is getting me through it. Thankfully the hall is quiet now and I can get back to painting 🖌️🎨. Great music 👌 and it's quiet again. But too many people live in fear and a soulless world 🌎🙌💖 but listening to this inspires me to still believe in endless possibilities in whatever small ways we can to slowly awake and open our eyes to the simple things that are beautiful and marvelous and move us, to keep the faith in love and not giving in to despair.

I got back to painting 🖌️🎨 and then some! Artists and musicians and other concerned people can and have and will speak out. Creators across races creeds and religion and our USA third world crime ridden country of haves, and gapping poverty, given over to corporations and their lust for power and domination, should quake in their shoes. Look at the past and the sunshine of the new dawn that will kick your sorry asses out. You may be mighty now, but you will be nothing as our voices get raised and exorcize the demons that possess you and sing new beginnings.
Amazing you put cotton jones in this. I love cotton jones (Michael Nau) such an amzing artist. If anyone is not familiar please check him out. He is such an amazing artist. Two of his best songs are in this list (Blood red sentimental blues) and (I am the Changer). Have a great days guys and girls!

i love this mix but man i find that one song "Farwell Transmission" to be so irritating and its on a couple of these similar artists lists. its a nice song but i get very tired of it quickly. its a bit repetative to have playing in the bg
