A little bit off-topic, but it's id Software pronounced as the word "it" but with a d (/ɪd/). Not like I.D. And Doom 2016 is more like a reboot than a sequel... I think. And I hope you'll react to more Mick Gordon greatness!!! The whole Doom 2016 and Eternal soundtrack is pure perfection! And yes, Eternal had other composers too for the DLCs, they are good too!

As many times as I have played both of these games and listen to this soundtrack I can't believe I just now am realizing that Mick Gordon not only took soundtracks and third party media outside of Cinema to a new level but also composing of music itself because not only did he have to mainline a eight-string lead guitar but also had to have the guitar neck custom made wider to accommodate the two extra strings making hitting certain notes even harder due to the distance being further away from your fingertips because of the wider neck. I am now convinced Mick Gordon has earned his place in the pantheon of Legends in his genre and also has earned the right to stand shoulder to shoulder with artists that I consider inspirations and milestones in the development of rock and roll as a whole. Mr Gordon, your spot in the Valhalla of metal awaits you 🤘😆🤘

The game is great because the music and ripping and tearing goes so ungodly well together, maybe watch the first combat area of doom? It ends in the title drop with sick beats

It was one of the first games that used layered music that fits what is happening on screen. Not just "You fighting now" but the level of fighting, the enemies etc. There is a make-off of Doom. It's nuts how complex the systems are. That's why it always seems to fit perfectly.

That 'faint little bottle metallic sound' you heard is the alarm sound of the ingame BFG whenever you've fully charged it in alt-fire mode. Drains a LOT of ammo but causes and even bigger bang!

so I've just noticed, the kick drum during the main "chorus" part if you want to call it that, there are two different drum sounds/rhythms that are being played. There's one louder one that's playing a more classic rock 1-3 kick snare pattern, and one quieter one that's driving straight 12/8/triplets to support the guitar and bass transients.

15:30 you mentioned it broke from the triplet structure to a quarter note rhythm. I believe that melody is also a throwback to a riff from the original 90s Doom games

Decided to throw some more video game soundtracks into my working (software dev) playlist. I was worried the soundtrack would be a little too heavy for me, at least while working, but happy to report that this song A) has become one of my favourite songs of all time and B) I get into some of my best "flow" when this song comes on.

I know its a bit different but about a year ago someone made a video dissecting the music from the earliest to most recent doom games and how its evolved over the years. Its called "Understanding the music of doom' by Liam Triforce. Its a pretty in depth video and I think you'd enjoy it.

Even from the earliest days of DooM the music has always been in our faces. We all thought it was 'beyond' back then. Not only does id Software just push your desktop systems to the graphic redline but the music production has just kept in toe with their awesome FPS gameplay.

If you want more Mick goodness I would recommend Killer Instinct's "Hinnamatoom" or "Warlord". I also would like to second the notion of everyone saying Guilty Gear Strive's character songs, i would recommend from that one "Alone Infection" and "Let Me Carve Your Way". Amazing reaction as always.

I think that the guitar silence during the clean snare hits of this song are very smart. Both the guitar and snare are punchy AF in their own alternating time. It almost feels like the guitar is sidechained to the snare

Yessss, I'm glad you did (IMO) the best songs from each game. As I said on the other video's comments section, Doom 2016 with this and the entire OST blew my mind with the music, but Eternal's evolution blew it all over again with All They Fear Is You, Meathook and even I think there was BFG Division II or something.. Both amazing OSTs. Do Blood Swamps from DOOM Eternal's first DLC, its a good song example of when a game has to change to another artist and try to find someone worthy of the original music.. And they chose the only person who could come close, Andrew Hulshult.

A fascinating thing to remember is it's a song on its own BUT it's built for a level in a game with the premise the player can be in that level for 1:30 or could hang around for 5+ minutes vibing and it'll sound good when ever you join or leave the song and you can loop it at almost any time

I think you’d absolutely love the undertale soundtrack, it is from a game and it’s very 8-bit but there’s a plethora of tracks that just have such individuality and seem to transcend those notions of what that sound is like. they each contribute so much to the imagination with the emotions they invoke, and I think it would be super fun to delve into them as a video my guy, get this comment to this man’s attention asap

So the song is supposed to be modular to the gameplay being shown so the more silent parts are the calm parts and the more intense parts are supposed to play when under attack so the arrangement that you heard is just a sample made to demo the song.
