I love these lists because I’ve never heard of of any of these artists before. I’ve got some great new listening on tap for 2024! Of those artists listed, the Sufjan Stevens album Javelin really stands out at the top of the list for me.

I don't normally listen to Pop music. But hearing your excerpts makes me wonder what the definition of Pop is in today's music world. I will listen to these albums. Thank you for your insight into new music.

Interesting to hear Oneohtrix has been using AI in his compositions. One of my favorites this year has been Headache's The head hurts but the heart knows the truth, where Vegyn opted to use an AI voice to recite spoken word over his excellent production. I think AI can be a great tool when it comes to music production. It will be interesting to see how it gets implemented in different ways moving forward.

Again with Marsha P Johnson being a figurehead of Stonewall...no. She was not. Being in association with the New Yorker, I would assume some research would be in order and done for this video. Nice list though ( I would not include Sufjan, I think he peeked a decade ago, but that's just me).

Sometimes having the melody be elusive, unpredictable or just out of reach can be very rewarding. Avant-garde jazz can be that way.

I listened to all of these. Each experience is worse than the previous one. The choices reeked of east side elitist noise that no one truly enjoys but rather force feeds themselves said mess in order to portray a certain image and fit into a particular group while remaining empty in purpose.

I feel ya. I'm a jazz nerd and have lost touch with what is considered popular music these days. But I'll check in every now and then. For instance, I'll subject myself to what some of the late-night shows have as musical guests and I'll watch stuff like this to see if perhaps I'm missing something. Turns out, I'm not missin' a thing.
