@@murmaider2 There's definitely some truth there. I dig Jeff's playing as much as anyone, but if you check out the video of his clinic at PIT (or whatever it was in '86), he plays a little bit without all the gear and he sounds much more human. I remember the day I heard that Jeff had died. I was in a record store in Auckland NZ and a customer and an employee were talking about it. As a young drummer myself and huge fan of his, I was shocked and simply couldn't believe it. When the employee saw my face, he asked it I was all right and I said "No I'm not. He was my hero". I remember walking home in stunned disbelief. It had a profound effect on me and as I think back on that day many years ago, I still feel my eyes welling up. There will never be another Jeff...

@@nancystanley3747 GROOVE -- In music, groove is the sense of an effect ("feel") of changing pattern in a propulsive rhythm or sense of "swing". In jazz, it can be felt as a quality of persistently repeated rhythmic units, created by the interaction of the music played by a band's rhythm section (e.g. drums, electric bass or double bass, guitar, and keyboards). Groove is a significant feature of popular music, and can be found in many genres, including salsa, rock, soul, funk, and fusion.

That subtle ruff at 3:03 right before the final groove is priceless! Sounds SO good!!! I bought this VHS the day it came out. still have the booklet that came with it. I just noticed something interesting... Jeff telegraphs (with his upper body) the cymbal hits about two beats before he ads the different textures. This groove is funky beyond belief!!! Thanks Jeffrey.

@@JC-sj2pd He was known on the inside and like most great studio drummers was not a flashy player live. He would never play a drum solo. He did gain notoriety with the massive success of toto but I dont think the average drummer knew much about his recording history, appreciated how solid he was or his ability to lay down just the right track for almost anything. I hope I'm wrong tho.
