    Dude, Muse is one of the greatest bands of all time. And they're extremely diverse in style - you can probably find at least 10 Muse songs that sound completely different. Everything from blues to disco/pop to romantic-era piano pieces to heavy metal to dubstep to renaissance-style polyphonic chanting to epic movie-like soundtracks. And pretty much all of them are awesome! You should listen/react to more Muse :)

    Muse have been active for over 20 years. They're mainly a rock band (prog rock, space rock...), but they also add elements of electronica and classical music. They're actually known for always evolving and never sounding the same as the previous record.

    They never went into that metalcore field that they enter here. But for a Muse fan it's not a weird thing, because they always experiment with different genres, going from radio friendly over heavy to weird and classical/operatic. Btw your visible excitement was very entertaining to witness :)

    If you think Muse belong to a genre you remember then you're in for a ride my friend! Muse are the most adaptable and genre-less band (also the best live band for the past two decades hands down.) Check out : Assassing live at the mayan, Stockcholm syndrome glasto 2004, Dead Star, Citizen erased, Survival at the olimpic stadium2013, showbiz at reading 2017. The list is endless!

    Muse have SO MANY different sounds. They have covered so many different genres and I absolutely love the metal edge they've added to this album. Their furst few albums had a lot of heavier songs and they've experimented over the years but all of them sound like MUSE. Great reaction!

    Muse had been this heavy before, muse is a rock band that always has come near to metal, but a with a lot of unique identity that i can totally say that made them legend, on the music and on the stage and those who dont agree its just because they dont had really see them. You should really make reaction to more muse and you will understand what i am saying

    Interpretation; seems most folk miss the meaning behind the lyrics. The track has another title; 'Living Vicariously', & may be better described by a phrase from the song itself; 'Psychological Warfare'. For it's about a world-wide psychological warfare between a few old men (the old dude in a wheel chair) & the mindless masses (those under his control). So the one singing the words is standing strong - outside the visuals - getting stronger by refusing to 'stand down', which is what he would be doing by joining in the system of manipulation by the slave-master over the masses of mindless slaves. An outstanding song with incredibly intelligent lyrics by such a relevant band.

    I find it interesting that Matt Bellamy didn't state this and yet it's obvious to me you're right. He kind of made out it was more to do with a relationship. I think that's the way he's going to win - to be crafty and play them at their own game (deceit).

  • @Keepnhonest

    @@pointoflight2914 Very interesting point you make. I had not (until reading your comment) realised he had said anything about the song itself. And yes your point appears to be spot on about playing them at their own game. I always knew Matt is very intelligent as well as super talented, but your comment now has him at a whole new level in my estimation, & now I can stop being confused about why most folk believe the song is about a woman - even though like you, I can't really see how they can fail to see their error. It is such a pleasure responding to someone who is not one of the mindless sheep ready to be manipulated, converted into lamb cutlets. Hey I think I have an idea for a new song by Muse - how about a re-working/upgrade/modernisation to 'Sheep' by Pink Floyd'? I'm sure Bellamy could do a great job of metalising that song. BTW have you heard Compliance yet? It continues the exploration of this system of mind control & the compliance required for it to function within our minds & lives - rendering all of us as their slaves (sheeple).

    @@Keepnhonest I think a lot of the time people hear what they can relate to and then fit the lyrics around that. Most people don't think like you or I so they tie it to the next common denominator which is usually a relationship or other personal experience. Having said that, I think it may be more complicated because there may be an element that relates to Matt's marriage into Hollywood which I feel part of him may resent. Having heard lyrics from his earlier work and hearing interviews etc, he is _very_ aware of the darker economic forces in this world and the propaganda they pollute us with. I think he supressed this part of himself when he married and started a family. I reckon the 'pandemic' has brought it all back out of him again. Back to the point, anyone who has heard Matt speak, has read the song lyrics, and places it in context of what's happened for the two years and STILL doesn't think it's about our slide towards totalitarianism.... well I find it hard to understand them but I think there's still hope. I heard Compliance only yesterday and have it on repeat now! I love how Compliance and Won't Back Down are like two sides of the abusive relationship. It really fires me up at a time when that's what we all need!

  • @Keepnhonest

    @Keepnhonest

    @@pointoflight2914 I love & welcome Compliance (the song) almost as much as I hate & reject compliance (the subservience), but I can appreciate how many folk will almost hate it, as (like you said) it seems like the opposite side of Muse. Folk who want the hard Muse will barely tolerate it while others (like me) who loved Unintended, Unnatural Selection & Exogenesis will drink it up at every chance. Actually there are zero songs by Muse that I don't like, even though the harder ones like Hysteria, Stockholm Syndrome, Assassin & Muscle Museum took me almost two minutes to love. Actually I'm exaggerating, as they grew on me virtually immediately, and are now some of my very faves. I also thought I saw a change in Matt when he joined the popular select in marriage, but on the other hand, I think someone might have taken him aside & informed him (or he might have realised it himself) that if Muse were ever going to be given sufficient freedom to attain the success they deserved (especially in the US) that he would need to back off the C. Theory roundabout to some extent, which to my mind would be sailing pretty close to the old rock musician tyranny of 'selling your soul to the devil' (akin Tommy Johnson, Bob Dylan & Jimmy Page). But I'm now relieved & thankful with his new work, that he seems to have very much avoided those rocky shores. BTW, on a tangential note; even though many believe he did, I strongly doubt that John Lennon can be counted among those who made such a 'deal', & in any case ... I am not convinced it is as indelible a mark as they might believe/suppose. I would also be interested to know if Matt &/or Dom & Chris received the horror bio weapon arm dart. Even though I doubt I will ever find out, it would be an interesting question as to how much he has been influenced by his immediate surroundings (family wise). I have sufficient faith however, from what I am seeing from Matt these days, would seem to indicate he hasn't been overly poisoned by his immediate cultural influences - in this manner at least. I must admit however, that until these last two songs, I was really having strong concerns as to all that, & when I first watched the latest video of him with his guitar (before he had even played a note) & saw the Ukraine flag displayed on it, my heart sank bitterly, & I almost gave up hope on the spot. Not that I have anything against Ukraine or the regular folk there, but the entire thing is clearly yet another generated psyop, again to get us all excited & war hungry - very likely leading to a new false flag event, which will probably result in a huge war, especially if senile Joe has his putrid way. So far however, it appears that V. Putin may have their measure - thankfully - even though the question remains as to how much a puppet of the WEF & UN, he really is??? That seems to be the hidden factor right now. Hey I just realised what you mean by 'Compliance' & 'Wont Back Down' being like two sides of an abusive relationship. I hadn't noticed that, while looking at how they present as the two sides of the Muse 'style'. But you are right, & now I'm wondering if Matt did that intentionally, or is it coincidence - even though I doubt there is a great deal of coincidence in Matt's work, He seems very considered & thorough, to my mind at least. They are certainly the two sides of the severely abusive relationship we all have with our globalist elitist megalomaniacal overlords (from hell) - who only temporarily release the screws of oppression for short periods periodically, to stop the chance of too many people waking up to their sick games. I'd like to get deeper into another vital topic with you; being the religious aspect of the control system over us, should you like to chat about that? But it is all so complex & detailed, we might best do it via email - should you so choose. If not, I fully understand, & in any case, I am Graham & hope you are well my friend.
