I would not be able to pass the CSCS exam without your videos, so thank you SO MUCH for making them, and keep it going! I already got confused right at chapter 1 & 2, because this type of info is so hard to conceptualize just by reading it, so your visual and verbal explanations make all the difference👌 Thanks to you, but I have hope of passing the test the first time!
Great job at explaining all of this ! I can read it only so much before I get lost. This really helps breaking it down

Wow, this was so helpful. I was getting dizzy reading it in the book, but you broke it down and made it seem so simple
Thank you so much for making these tutorials, they help a lot!

thank you, thank you, thank you!!! your diagrams and explanations have taken a confusing concept and turned it into something I can finally grasp. you da mvp of my a&p!
perfect video to not only define the different types of levers but also compare them to one another. Thank you very much for your efforts!

In the first example wouldn’t it be a concentric and eccentric contraction of the biceps? I thought eccentric contractions elongated the muscle. The triceps would be passively shortening in the downward phase of the row?
Thank you so much for these videos! It was super to easy to understand with the examples you give.

Hey Matt, love your videos, they have been extremely helpful. I was wondering if these calculations will typically come up in the CSCS exam, or if the questions discuss more theoretical questions. Also, do you know if they allow calculators, or should I be prepared to do all calculations by hand? Again, thanks a ton for all of the detailed explanations.
In your second example, the triceps would not be eccentrically contracting on the way down on a bent-over row. It would still be the biceps working eccentrically.

Very nice explanation! But isn‘t the resistance pointing towards the wrong direction in the example for the first class lever?
Great video
@TheMovementSystem

Glad you enjoyed it
For the second class lever, why isnt the ankle joint our fulcrum/axis of rotation? Isnt torque being created around the ankle joint?
For the first class lever, shouldnt the force of resistance go up?
Something complex made palatable for human consumption. Thank you
Please do one on Nutrition!

Will do
Atlanto-axial joint is also first class lever
why doug brignole in his book identify moment arm of resistance as the distance between the effort and load? meaning that during bicep curls he claims that moment of resistance is the the distance of the hand to the connection of biceps. Is he wrong??
what is the difference between moment arm and lever arm? is the moment arm perpendicular distance from the force of muscle and fulcrum/ bone and lever arm is the distance from force of resistance and fulcrum? There are so many different terms and ways of explanation that it gets pretty confusing.
Should (Fr) for the 1st class lever be in the upward direction in the example of a tricep extension? Where as the other two levers act downwards because of gravity it seems the cable for the tricep ext. is pulling in the upward direction changing the (Fr).
@TheMovementSystem

Yes that's correct.

@@TheMovementSystem I don´t understand this. How would the force resistance change if the muscle will always work to extend the arm?
@TheMovementSystem
3 жыл бұрын
@@solenlaluna If the resistance is pulling down the bicep muscle will work. If the resistance is pulling up the tricep muscle will work.
Which type of lever is involved when the person is holding a weight with her arm extended horizontally using the deltoid muscles of the shoulder ?
@solenlaluna

Interesting, was also thinking about that. I´m not absolutely sure, but I think it would be the same system of lever as the bicep curl (class III), where the muscle insertion is after the fulcrum (shoulder joint), in same side as the resistance. The movement arm of the resistance in the extended shoulder raise is much greater than the movement arm of the resistance in an elbow bent shoulder raise, for example, therefore less mechanical advantage for the muscle in the extended shoulder raise and more force needs to be applied to raise the arm.
Gotta love the content but im am not a Med student or anything and i do understand this video but not the usefullness of the information aside from medical studies. Does anyone know any practical applications of these principales,for example exercices that apply 3class tension instead of 1st class to prime recovery by getting more out of l'ESS weight or smth? Thks a lot for everything,i usually love the muscle building videos but this one may be too far from my goals,still hella interesting tho❤
So quad extensions would also be an example of a Class One Lever? The muscular force is produced anterior to the knee joint and the load would be the foot?
@TheMovementSystem
2 жыл бұрын
No. 3rd class. The muscle force is applied at the tibial tuberosity where the patellar tendon inserts.
@zacharykam5161

@@TheMovementSystem oh ok that makes sense. Thanks for the clarification!
In physical therapy school, we learned that eccentric contractions the muscle would be the "resistance" and the weight would be the effort. So concentric biceps would be 3rd class and eccentric biceps would be 1st class. It seems like for the CSCS that this is not a thing 🤷♀️??
Can we change the tendon moment arm length?

First
3 rd class lever causing disadvantages ..so why it is found mostly found in human body
@TheMovementSystem

It’s disadvantageous for force but it’s good for producing high speed to be able to run and throw for example
Bruh the book was kinda useless and u did superbly. Even with the biceps changing which they showed in the book, this was easier than reading it for 45min over and over

Slow down! I understand the material because I already learned it and I'm reviewing. But even so, I simply cannot process anything you are saying, because you speak too rapidly. Even if you were saying your ABC's, I couldn't process it. I like your material...but I'm not benefitting because you talk too fast. And I can't focus on reading what's in the picture because I'm trying to process your spoken words... My brain is stuck at the train station.

@@richardodhiambo7503 wow... Look, not everybody can process verbal communication so fast. Different brains have different processing speeds. Maybe you need to learn a thing or two about neurodivergence....and understanding that uf somebody has an experience, then it is a valid experience. Don't need to be dismissive and judgemental. Just know different brains process at different speeds. And in a learning environment, learners need time to process.
This video rocks!! I appreciate the questions and the recap🙏🙏
