    I would not be able to pass the CSCS exam without your videos, so thank you SO MUCH for making them, and keep it going! I already got confused right at chapter 1 & 2, because this type of info is so hard to conceptualize just by reading it, so your visual and verbal explanations make all the difference👌 Thanks to you, but I have hope of passing the test the first time!

    In the first example wouldn’t it be a concentric and eccentric contraction of the biceps? I thought eccentric contractions elongated the muscle. The triceps would be passively shortening in the downward phase of the row?

I was wondering if these calculations will typically come up in the CSCS exam, or if the questions discuss more theoretical questions. Also, do you know if they allow calculators, or should I be prepared to do all calculations by hand? Again, thanks a ton for all of the detailed explanations.

    In your second example, the triceps would not be eccentrically contracting on the way down on a bent-over row. It would still be the biceps working eccentrically.

    why doug brignole in his book identify moment arm of resistance as the distance between the effort and load? meaning that during bicep curls he claims that moment of resistance is the the distance of the hand to the connection of biceps. Is he wrong??

    what is the difference between moment arm and lever arm? is the moment arm perpendicular distance from the force of muscle and fulcrum/ bone and lever arm is the distance from force of resistance and fulcrum? There are so many different terms and ways of explanation that it gets pretty confusing.

    Should (Fr) for the 1st class lever be in the upward direction in the example of a tricep extension? Where as the other two levers act downwards because of gravity it seems the cable for the tricep ext. is pulling in the upward direction changing the (Fr).

  • @solenlaluna

    @solenlaluna

    Interesting, was also thinking about that. I´m not absolutely sure, but I think it would be the same system of lever as the bicep curl (class III), where the muscle insertion is after the fulcrum (shoulder joint), in same side as the resistance. The movement arm of the resistance in the extended shoulder raise is much greater than the movement arm of the resistance in an elbow bent shoulder raise, for example, therefore less mechanical advantage for the muscle in the extended shoulder raise and more force needs to be applied to raise the arm.

    Gotta love the content but im am not a Med student or anything and i do understand this video but not the usefullness of the information aside from medical studies. Does anyone know any practical applications of these principales,for example exercices that apply 3class tension instead of 1st class to prime recovery by getting more out of l'ESS weight or smth? Thks a lot for everything,i usually love the muscle building videos but this one may be too far from my goals,still hella interesting tho❤

    In physical therapy school, we learned that eccentric contractions the muscle would be the "resistance" and the weight would be the effort. So concentric biceps would be 3rd class and eccentric biceps would be 1st class. It seems like for the CSCS that this is not a thing 🤷‍♀️??
