He’s learned not to show it because of his upbringing. He thinks he can’t show that side because he sees it as “weak”. He’s learned to have that hardened exterior because he can’t show weakness or vulnerability because he’ll get hurt in the end like how he was hurt in his past. :( Murdoc is just a loser with a lot of emotional issues who acts all tough but really is just broken inside.

They're real icons. Imperfect from the beginning, so nothing can exactly "expose" them. They don't have to be perfect, because they are inherently flawed, as people are.

Murdoc confirms this, and in response, 2-D says "I love you, Murdoc!" and he just sounds so genuine and sweet when he says it it's hard to believe that this is the same 2-D who Murdoc abuses and insults on a regular basis.

He’s a pickled gremlin but he’s our pickled gremlin who has his golden moments. In all honesty I do think he’s growing as a character, slowly but surely.

2:23 There are times where I'm lonely and sad. Times when my Parents argue with one another until they're blue in the face, if not yelling at each other, yelling at Me or my Brother. Times where I miss Friends who've gone away and times where I miss the ones that haven't. Even times I think about my Great Grandmother and my Aunt in Heavan. Or the two classmates and lifelong Friends I lost in a car crash this year and the times I still cry in the night thinking of them. When those times arise, when I can't do anything right, when I work my job until I'm dirt tired or when the world and everyone in it seems to hate me...sometimes I turn on my phone and listen to Murdoc quietly say *"Love you... ok, Love you... bye bye..."* just to hear nothing but pure love in his voice for Fans of Gorillaz like Me and everyone else on this channel. I feel loved and somehow... I keep going.

Gorillaz helped me a lot with my life and problems as well, using the fandom as a coping mechanism got me through a whole lot and it made me feel so much better to connect with other people who feel the same way. It's quite confusing if you ask me. In the Now Now 2D says he didn't miss Murdoc and can finally emotionally grow without him being in the way! But when you look at the music for the Album It's almost like he misses Murdoc.

I love Murdoc, he’s definitely on the more complex side as a character but that’s what makes him more human(Z), I think he’s really just troubled and after Plastic Beach it seemed as though he was trying to put himself back together and before he went to prison he seemed really chill and not as angry and mean as usual
