Murdo MacLeod | A Life In Football, A Life In Celtic
Спорт
🍀 A select few people in Celtic’s history have won league titles as both a player AND as part of the management team.
But fewer still can claim to have done so in such dramatic fashion as Murdo MacLeod.
When Ten Men Won The League on a spring night in 1979. When against all the odds the Miracle At Love Street occurred in 1986. AND THEN when we 'Stopped The Ten' in 1998 in yet another final day decider, there’s just one man who played a pivotal part in all three of those most memorable title wins in our history.
Murdo MacLeod's Celtic Story is genuine Roy Of The Rovers, stuff with the powerful midfielder making a habit of late day drama in some of Celtic's most memorable trophy wins.
He's also encountered drama of a different nature off the park however, having undergone lifesaving surgery not once, but twice since his playing days.
Ahead of the forthcoming release of his biography "Murdo, Murdo" penned by long term friend and journalist Hugh Keevins, Murdo shares with us the tales of an incredible life in football, on and off the park.

@@TheCelticExchange certainly was mate. Just a 17 year old pup then. Now in my 60s! Greatest game I ever attended without a shadow of a doubt. Standing in the jungle when wee Murdo smashed that ball into the postage stamp was the most special moment of any match I’ve been to in my puff. Then dodging Hun pubs on the way back to Shettleston to watch the highlights only to find the tv camera men went on strike. Such a pity younger guys like yourself would never get the real flavour of that night from the grainy footage that exists.
Murdo mentions the Rangers game in 1986. It's his screamer that gets us back to 4-4 in that game. A point that won us the league!

I started watching Celtic in 1983. Whilst the maestro rightly takes plaudits for his skill, I think Murdo and Big Roy were the driving force of those early 1980s teams.

Thanks for the kind comments @caplaw really appreciated 🍀
Murdo was a great player we let go far too soon and he and Wim will always be remembered in Celtic history as the men who stopped Rangers getting the ten and that's not a bad legacy to leave behind. I met Murdo at the Celtic Story in the Armadillo last year and he was on crutches so I didn't want to hold him up too much, I know his health hasn't been great for a few years but I hope he's got many years to go yet, God bless him and his family and all Celtic supporters around the world and he'll always be loved by our supporters HH

Great to see a lot of comments towards Murdo which I'm sure Murdo and his family will appreciate. My own recollections of Murdo were of a battler with a great shot on him, one of my favourite players & I can only wish the best for him & his family.

He's had his struggles Anthony but in a good place just now and a regular back at Celtic Park these days! 🍀
He was a tenacious player who scored some vital goals. Never forget his rocket shot in the 82 League Cup final and his goal in the 4-4 Ibrox draw in 1986.

My 5th comment on the same video.....apologies. But I can't let you call Frank Mcgarvey's diving heider like that Tino!! Marco Van Bastan in 88 and Frank's in 85. There are no better goals from head or foot in the history of the game. I've checked and I'm right 💚
