I heard in some other video that Johnson thought that where his cabin was in the Yukon, which did not require him to have a license at that time.
There is a movie with Charles Bronson and Lee Marvin loosely based on this called Death Hunt
I would speculate misunderstood, right up until he layed thefirst Mountie low. After that he's a murderer and the manhunt was on. Had it not been for the airplane. I think he would have made it to Alaska. He had his trailers bamboozled.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Another little detail I heard yrs ago but not so much now is tat Johnson never oiled his guns in cold weather. The Mounties did, which as anyone knows the affect of extreme cold weather on oil. Johnsons Guns all worked really well not being oiled, the police men's guns worked, but not as they could have.. Now, that is hear say and could be a story. Absolutely. he was a dangerous man and needed to be stopped. But one cannot deny him his skills either...
The mad trapper of rat river is Canadian not Alaskan.

@@TheFarmerfitz location not origin, however they believe he was raised in the American midwest. They incorrectly said the Yukon is in Alaska it's a Canadian territory
