    Another amazing video! These videos with Chris are fantastic. So many great ideas and uses, clear information and great how to advice. The only issue I’d raise is that other than Createx, I find it really tough to find the other products in the U.K. Maybe Simon Murray can help, but it would be great to have some advice on equivalent pre cleaners, tack rags etc. That’s not a complaint, more just asking for help.

So I will do some tests and see how the paint goes on. I have a project that I am working on of a semi truck and trailer with graphics flowing from the front end of the semi to the end of the trailer. I like this look and will test it out. If it works I will post a video of it in direct sunlight. Wish me luck.

    Awesome. I have a fiber glass dashboard that is painted med silver grey metallic. I'm going to be hydrodipping it in black carbon fiber. I'm afraid that it will be too bright of a carbon print for me (lots of the metallic base paint will show through). am I able to mix a solvent clear coat and add a very small amount of compatible black base paint and spray it on to the dashboard to mute it, to make it darker in steps? Or would I need to spray a candy black, and add coats to get my desired effect?

  • @CreatexColors

    The short answer is yes; water-based and solvent-based paints may be inter-coated, just not directly mixed. Allow each material to dry thoroughly before applying the next material type. For more, please email us at techsupport@createxcolors.com. Thank you.

    This was a great demonstration, thank you! Do you have a video explaining how to eliminate the tape lines? Around 11:00 you can see the ridges left by each layer of taping. It is really noticeable in the sparkle green. Does the Candy Black and Clear just end up filling over that so it isn't noticeable anymore?

  • @CreatexColors

    @CreatexColors

    2 жыл бұрын

    Cure times for water-based paints depend on temperature and relative humidity while the paint is drying. Use warm, moving air to speed up drying. The quickest time to tape is achieved by opening up re-coat times and allowing each coat to dry tack-free before applying the next coat. If in doubt, allow for more drying time. For more, please refer to the Hard-Surface Application Guide available at www.creatextech.com. Thank you.

  • @CreatexColors

    @CreatexColors

    3 жыл бұрын

    This was a demo panel. For an actual paintjob, apply an inter-coat before top-coat clear, or clear 2x. candy colors, including candy2o, are best not sanded direct as the scratch marks will show in the finish. Thank you.

    How often do you sand between coats? And when would you recommend sanding between coats?

  • @CreatexColors

    @CreatexColors

    3 жыл бұрын

    We don't recommend sanding candy2o for this technique. The 2k automotive clear is applied after the paint dries, without sanding. An inter-coat of 4050 UVLS Gloss could have been applied, which would hep hide the taped-graphic lines apparent in what's really a test panel (definitely apply an inter-coat and sand before the 2k clear for an actual paintjob). For more, please check out our Automotive Application Guide available at www.creatextech.com. Thank you.

    Awesome! Thanks for sharing the process with us. Some folks lightly wet sand right after the final black coat. Do you ever have to do that? I will say, those folks spray the black a lot wetter than you did, so maybe that's why they have to knock it back down.

  • @CreatexColors

    This is a demo panel for a complete vehicle we're soon painting murdered ghosted candy. That project won't show tape-lines as a clear will be applied over the graphics before the final top-coat clear, which will hide tape lines. candy2o Black is applied lightly to create the murdered effect, that the key to the technique. Applying candy2o Black wetter would hide the underlying graphics and ruin this effect. Thank you.

    Follow the spray-gun manufacturer's inlet psi recommendations and make a few test panels to get even paint distribution within the largest fan size the gun offers. Thank you.

    4050 UVLS Gloss Clear is a better carrier for candy2o compared with 4030, especially for spray-gun application. For more, please see our candy2o mixing video and Tech Data Sheet, autoaircolors.com/candy-dye-colors/candy-2o/candy2o.html. Thank you.

    To avoid tape lines, avoid overapplying colors which creates build and, use an inter-coat clear, such as AutoBorne 6000 Transparent Sealer or 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear, over base colors before applying graphic colors. Thank you.

    I've never painted a vehicle. Now I have an f250 I'm painting. I showed my wife the hot rod sparkle blue. She fell in love with it. She passed away 3 weeks later. So I'm definitely using the blue. Could I do the murdered out blue with a murdered blue graphic over it. Your videos are awesome, I can't wait to use the techniques. I have three trucks to paint. I'm 50yrs old, trying to teach this old dog some new tricks.

    good videos, but you are always painting small projects, I noticed that your product only comes in small containers how much would it take to actually paint a car? Does Createx sell larger products?

    We've a few videos where a complete vehicle was painted in our booth and the Racing Hood Graphics was a replication of a full-sized racing boat paintjob that was shown in the video, but yes, most of our projects are smaller, representative videos, such as the candy2o Poison Green video we just posted where application with a full-sized spray-gun was shown; this is to be used for larger projects. For more about painting complete vehicle and large scale projects with Createx paints, please refer to our Hard-Surface & Automotive Application Guide available at www.creatextech.com. Thank you.

    How about a Murdered Out Ghosted Candy 'bird graphic on a Firebird hood? My car and hood are gloss black. 'Bird decals are awful. But a very discreet, custom painted graphic, which you've shown here can be achieved with black candy, I think, would look awesome. But to make it even more interesting, spray the bird using red-to-black hypershifting pearl's, mixed into black candy, then topped with black candy, to really murder it out. The ghosted bird would barely appear dark red, then quickly disappear as it shifts to black while you move past the hood.
