Murder on the Dancefloor singer talks about chart success after Saltburn | BBC Newsnight

More than 20 years after the song was first in the charts, the song Murder on the Dancefloor has appeared in the charts once again after featuring in the film Saltburn.
Its singer, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, spoke to BBC Newsnight’s Victoria Derbyshire about the twisted thriller bringing the classic song to a new audience.

    I love Sofie's music. She really got me through lockdown. Because of her personal experience she has been an advocate for the #me too movement but I think that she should be get behind the #me too even if Ur a Jew movement because of the lack of support from European feminist groups.

    She's been making lovely dance tracks for decades still going strong, even more lovely, and loved her family covid lockdown sets. The movie isn't that big of a deal or outrageous. Her song to me is far better than the movie and will outlive saltburn easily.
