Thanks, Guy. I don’t think I could have taught you anything you already didn’t know! 😂
Loved this approach. Great bass line!
Really excited about the series! Thanks for considering our suggestions 😃
This is very well explained and broken down. Love that you give us the music and tabs too. And FYI - Guy himself breaks this line down on his lockdown licks series. As charming as he is AND the guy who made the bass line, you're a better teacher.

Thanks so much. Wizards such as Guy often just do amazing things without necessarily knowing exactly why what they did is amazing!
Awesome little breakdown! As far as other songs it would be nice to see you break down I’d love to see you tackle some Steely Dan. The early tracks where Walter Becker was playing would be super cool as would the later Chuck Rainier stuff

This song’s everywhere at the minute, so I’m not surprised you’ve done a video about this bass line!! 😅👍
Guy Pratt is a beast! And seems like a really really great dude! And funny! He is one of my biggest influences on the bassguitar and I’d love to see more breakdowns on his work. Thanks for this! And remember, always upvote Guy Pratt!

Thxs for a great song layout. Can't find many instances where a song is explained in a simple yet detailed way, especially including the song structure which helps to "understand" the song and how to work within it. Look fwd to more videos like this.
Love your work Dan. A breakdown of Free's Mr Big would be awesome. Respect.
Paul McCartney's bass on George's "Something" I think would be a great analysis.
Having returned to the Bass and playing after a long long injury forced break you are delivering absolute quality material here which is unlocking loads and loads of past gaps in my music knowledge and theory. I have enrolled in one of your online courses and and i cant wait to get stuck into the material and its learning. Ta very much.

Thanks for asking Dan! Variety of styles and difficulty levels to my suggestions below. Some more famous than others but each of them pretty musically interesting imo. Also trying to suggest basslines that either don’t have any or don’t have great tutorials on KZread, or that may have tutorials but no analysis of the theory/construction of the line. Hi Dan thanks for everything you do. Some songs, different styles, that I think the bass line sounds good on which I haven’t seen breakdowns on: Pasadenas - Tribute (Right On) The Beat - Save It For Later The Psychedelic Furs - Pretty in Pink New Order - Regret Funkadelic - One Nation Under A Groove

Future song suggestions: Pretty much anything by Khruangbin or Tame Impala, especially “the less i know the better” by the latter. Also “scratchcard lanyard” by Dry Cleaning, or for funk, “free” by Sault
Love your videos an I am looking forward to this series. I would like to see a Video for this songs: The Darkness-I believe in a thing called love UB40-kingston town Mr. Big-to be with you Clouseau-close encounters ❤
Could you make an analisis video of Pedro Aznar? He is an amazing Argentinian fretless bassist. I personally think that basslines as "mientes" or solos as "eiti leda" would be great choices to pick for a video.

I just have a quick question, you like Alain Caron? He's a Canadian bassist from the band UZEB in the 80s. Just a suggestion. I really like his style. He's a master on low notes. He plays a six string bass. He also is a master of ghost notes. Check him out and you'll see! Great work and I really love your videos

Hello Sir! I have been binge watching your lessons for the last couple of weeks as they are extremely helpful. Very good teacher you are 😊! I was wondering if there was a way to actually download the backing track? Or can i only listen to it on your page? I just want to send it to garage band so i can loop it for example… Thanx!

Thank you! Yes. In most browsers, there are three dots to the right of the audio bar and that’s how you download it (after clicking there). If you can’t, email me (dan@onlinebasscourses.com) and I’ll send it to you.

Great breakdown! I love to analyze music like this. I have a question for you; I grew up listening to alternative rock in the 90s so I was never really exposed to funk. Mostly I just experience it playing modern pop music, and of course from Flea. But I was going to ask if you could recommend some funk that heavily utilized the octaves. Thanks so much!
@blousug
6 ай бұрын
It’s also very funny that you picked this song Dan. I am currently learning another Guy Pratt hit, Madonna’s like a Prayer. That bass line with the octaver is just amazing. I’ve seen it played several ways and would love to see you play it! 😊

I am really enjoying this series because you're choosing some incredible songs that have fantastic bass lines!!! Thank you SO MUCH for the breakdown of the bass line for "Men I Trust"! I wasn't familiar with that tune at all and it is a serious challenge to play it correctly. It's one of the most melodic bass lines I've ever heard especially in a pop song1! I'm really enjoying learning these songs because I'm forced to practice and work on my craft!!! I'm going to watch Guy Pratt's breakdown video! Here are a couple of bass lines I would enjoy you breaking down: Don't Wait Another Night by Change kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZnqkuJeJqc7cftY.html This Place Hotel by The Jacksons kzread.info/dash/bejne/jJtpo6ualNivYag.html
