At the very end we hear the ex girlfriend say that if it was an act of rage, then she doesn’t want them to find out about it. Why? Maybe he did hate western women and he was killed for being an abusive monster. Not saying that justifies murder at all, but if it was done by his wife or perhaps her son then maybe the big secret on Cortez is that she’s being protected by those who knew or highly suspected that one of them finally snapped. Btw....did I miss something? Do we know where, exactly, they were when he was killed?

Rodrick Evans and you do? The mafia has assasssins that are trained for contract killings. They do it the fastest and least messy way possible. Why would someone with access to a gun, instead chose to get up close and personal to the victim with a knife? Aside from the fact that he would be covered in blood, it would be too easy to lose contol of the situation. They want to get in and out and get the job done as quickly and easily as possible. They want to leave as little trace of themselves as they can, which is why the gun. Knives are for amateurs, these people are anything but. This was a crime of passion, done by someone without access to a gun. He was stabbed multiple times, indicating rage, and anger. Mafia killings are professional, rage doesn't enter into it, it's a business, done cooly, calmly, and from a distance, not up close enough to be covered in the victim's blood, it's not personal.

Antonio Ferrer I don’t disagree completely because the mild winter coastal climate can be long and dreary IF it’s an especially wet/ damp year with long periods of minimal sunlight. We do get many winters that can be so mild that the damp, grey weather comes and goes, and we get a lot more sunshine. You can get by with jeans, sweaters, lighter jackets etc. Beautiful days and warm cozy nights. I’ve lived here my entire life. Not on Cortez but on a south coast peninsula, that takes 2-3 ferries to get to. Cortez is 2 ferries and maybe 3-4 hours from where I live. I always feel better in the spring and summer months though. I admit it. 😎🇨🇦❤️✌🏽 Pros and cons 🤷🏼‍♂️

In this case, the wife; I believe she killed him! From the ex-girlfriend’s experience living with him, he seemed very abusive and may have been that way with his wife from Cuba, and perhaps she was tired of his horrible treatment. In such a small place, the physical signs of abuse would have been clear to see over time. Extremely battered women truly fear for their life and that of their children with good reason. Somebody assisted in a final defense, if not the son himself, who interestingly relocated to Italy. Sounds like everyone is covering for the abused and justice may have been served in a final act of self-defense.

Let’s see: He was planning to “get back to Italy” according to the son. According to the ex girlfriend he beats women for the smallest things. So could it be that the wife was probably battered. She sees that he is going to Italy and may reconnect with his biological son and build a close relationship. Wife becomes jealous( maybe she would also lose money to the biological son) she fights with him not wanting to go to Italy he beats her...she conveniently she makes it so she is “not home” the night he is murdered and no there still is no justice for her husband for all these years. Finally someone wants to find the justice that the son desperately wants and the wife becomes enraged shuts everyone down...what??? Hmmm I wonder who is involved in killing this man?!?! 🤔. The wife is not the only one that lost someone and all those people that are “loyal” to the wife need to help and talk tell what they know. The son deserves to know who killed his father.

I used to live in Campbell River bc in 2006 and I would go visit friends on cortez island, cortez island has very nice people , when i would visit the island I would only find 3 or 4 stores , all the stores would sell fuel, beer lol etc... it is a very quiet place with fantastic seafood restaurants, there is no police office building on cortez island and it's takes 45 minutes by ferry to cortez island from Quadra island

Three things that stood out for me before I got to the ending of this episode: 1.Victim was in a relationship with someone from a vibrant culture, but ended up living in a remote island. 2.The victims wife was popular and well liked by the small community. 3.The wife was conveniently not home the day of the brutal murder. God, I can't wait for the next episode!

I hate to jump to conclusions, but her reaction to his inquiry was flat-out strange. This isn't a tabloid looking for lurid, meaningless bs. If your husband's murder is unsolved, how does having an inquiry like this hurt it? Most family members of victims whose deaths remain unsolved will do anything and everything to keep attention on their case. I look forward to further updates.

This seems like the type of place where everyone minds their business even with a wife beater in their midsts. Knowing the nonsensical, codependent, and toxic relationship between abusers and their victims, it would have been nice if her “neighbors” assisted or advised her. Nice community, indeed.

He was an awful person and that whole island knows it. They clearly adore Abigail. Someone on Cortes took him out and they don’t want to talk about it. Close (read: closed) communities can be like that. It will never be solved and the answers will die on the island with the people. History will forget who killed Stefano Savioli.

The guy is in a place that he could just disappear and be found floating a few days later and it’s a mystery not a brutal murder seen that the police have an investigation because of If theses nice suits did a brutal murder they would need to change their clothing It is completely nonsensical that they would come all the way form Cicely to assassinate a person who lives in seclusion warring $40,000 suits and sitting in public so they can be identified by police and locals who could not help seeing theses people if they tried The people would blend into the back ground. Death is in and out as fast and silent as possible they would not rent a room the guy who cases the place before the death squad ever shows up so they know what they are doing before they get there and spotters who may stay as fisherman vacationing after just to know what everyone is believing
