I think I’m turning into a Australian. Watching so many nice videos like yours I started driving down the left side. Not a good idea in California.

It's ok Tom.... I'm from Perth and when I visited LA, within the first hour, I had driven across a set of local traffic lights and found myself driving up the wrong side (left side) of the road!!! Luckily there were some friendly locals that didn't get too upset when they seen me driving up their side of the road and reminded me I was in the USA!!! :o

Yep, makes me want to trade the Discovery 4 in for a 200.... it just ate up that terrain, where the other 2 cars were scraping their undersides. Cheers, Don (Dons Shed and Xplor Overland)

Great to see some vision of this new route. Really looking forward to the rest of this series. Hope to do that track ourselves one day. Certainly a more scenic way to get to Albany than the usual highway trip.

Most certainly - we’d allow 4 days doing 200-250kms a day to be comfortable.....300kms or more we found is just too much.

Thanks mate. If you can get 4-5 days to do the track, I’d say follow it & add in your own tracks as you go, ie. Captain Fawcett......it does get pretty monotonous towards the end if you stick purely to the trail the whole way.

I did the first half of the track down to just below Boyup Brook and then left it to go to Manjimup and Margaret River. I will do the rest another time. I thought your detour to Oakley Dam was great. I think the track needs pointers as to what sights are available just off the track. Especially since its supposed to be a 4WD track and much of it was really 2WD. Over time these detours will make it a great trip to do. Hopefully someone is tracking these detours that are found and collating them.

  • @great_offroad_adventures

I would recommend lowering tyre pressures on the gravel roads near the beginning of the MundAl especially along Ashendon Road. There are some corrugations, not bad but lowering tyre pressures helps to look after the road and you will still get a smoother ride. I had 30 psi which is enough for the short paved road sections.

This spot has about 3 campsites. Eulin Crossing is close by and has about 4-5 campsites and is good for a swim. At a pinch there is also a bridge just back up the road a bit which has a couple of campsites at its base. It was just a bit close to the main road for us.

Correct - depending on the size of the group, you could fit 4-5 cars in our site, another site just down the road which could fit 10 cars across 2 areas & Trigwell Bridge is just up the road and Jayes Bridge is just after Boyup too as back ups.

Hi Brendon - most certainly suitable for a camper.....will get some gravel rash from all the gravel roads and there is only 10kms of narrow tracks in Ep3 which pose any real risk of pin striping/ scratches and you should be able to find a bypass track around that section.

200 Series are constant 4WD or All Wheel Drive (AWD)....up until you lock the centre diff which then gives equal power to front and rear.....so yeah I had drive going to all the tyres whilst I was on the gravel. When you lock the centre diff it turns off stability control, which I actually prefer to have on when on gravel.
