Ask that to the so-called African American who don't even know they ever had one. We are told to go back to places that we none of our ancestor ever been to or came from. America is all we know. Those of us that cameon ships that ain't Gullah have no clue to their native language, diet, traditions, or history. We don't remember the true names of the gods we served or dances or ceremonies of our original culture. Language? Try history. Try finding the truth of yourself only to be deny it because it makes your enemies uncomfortable while they look down on you, call you names, and attack your families. Commit open war in anticipation of your retaliation just so they can prove who's the stronger. A race war you never wanted, never needed, and never asked for. It doesn't matter what your experiences are or where you come from as long as they get to tell you about you from their stand points and views. I'm a so-called African/Native American. I know all to well.

the fact that the host said “give it up for the poet” at the end instead of saying her name is highly ironic and lowkey annoying since the whole poem was about being acknowledged and pronouncing her correctly. and then you don’t bother to say her name.

I am somali and I left my home country when I was seven, never got the chance to feel the love and to stay a little longer.I was on the road going to countries that I didn't belong to and not feeling the beautiful feelings when you're in your country. Not knowing the brave hearts that died for our country and not knowing the love our ancestors had for the country that many people try to make it look filthy and dangerous,so fellas let's hold on to our roots and love will prevail Insha'Allah.

Lisa marie Every country colonize to onather country, not only American. I don't understand why people finger point to America. America gives us welcome warmly, we have to appreciate not to criticize. Why we are here if we have great countries than America. ALLAH swt said in the QUR'AN if you don't appreciate to humanbein that means you don't appreciate to GOD. On top of that white people at least they add their history what ever they did, if it's right or it's wrong. What about other countries. We are master right.
