Bombay was so peaceful!
Now look better , nicely crowded, well organized inflation and colourful , tall buildings, with Indian maharashtra rule made name change mumbai after merger .. Before Portuguese, British was just 5 islands with architecture building and few people ,important port ..as BOMBAI to BOMBAY ..
I grew up in Bombay in the 1950’s and 1960’s and Mumbai is now more crowded and the traffic is now even worse, due to the growth in population. Pollution is just unbearable from all the cars and trucks. But i still love to visit Mumbai, especially Bandra, and Juhu Beach.

I grew up in Bombay too in the early 2000s before moving to Canada in 2007, visited Juhu Beach (my favourite childhood place I remembered) and was very shocked to see how much garbage was being thrown into the water. The amount of littering there in such a beautiful beach is very sad.

@@astro6393 : Yes, from the late 1950’s to the early 1960’s Juhu Beach was clean and there were very small crowds. But the stress from the massive population growth has taken its toll on not just Juhu Beach, Bandra but all of Bombay. I still love to visit Bandra and would go for a visit this minute if COVID-19 was conquered. I hope to go back in November 2021.
