Mum Makes A Basic Website in HTML using HTML-ive 0.5.7 (2010)
Ойын-сауық
Can Diana make a basic website using just HTML? Well, lets find out! These days though, you wouldn't make a website using JUST html. Typically you would use Javascript, CSS, PHP and so on and often use some kind of a template rather than doing it from scratch.
Diana is using a program called HTML-ive that I coded/abandoned back when I was a teenager. It's quite outdated but for basic stuff, it still gets the job done so you can see your website updating live as you code it.
You can download my outdated HTML-ive 0.5.7 software from 2010 here: www.sendspace.com/file/bvb92d
If it doesn't run for whatever reason, try install this first: filehippo.com/download_dotnet_...
This advanced task was suggested by patreon supporter
Jochem Pluim. Check out his channel here: / maximezingt
If you wanna try out some Javascript in HTML-ive click on "Code - Javascript - Java Structure Setup". Click the blank space between the two generated lines and click "Code - Javascript -Text". Then write in "Hello World" between the apostrophes.
If you want you can delete Hello world and go into "Code - Javascript - Random Number". This will allow you to have random numbers generated each time the page reloads. Maybe you want an alertbox to appear? Click "Code - Javascript - AlertBox" and enter the message of your choice.
Anyway, If you REALLY wanna go start making websites though, I'd recommend probably NOT using HTML-ive. Instead use something like Adobe Dreamweaver (professional) or even just WIX (template based).

It IS coding. Coding != Programming! Coding is when you create coded information. That is what you do when you write code in programming, but also when you make a site in html.
I don't think it's outdated. It's actually quite good. In 2022
I just now got to this video and wow. HTML-ive actually looks really good for something you made in 2010.

If you want a proper web dev editor I'd suggest you go with VSCode from microsoft. Its free and it is far superior than anything else. If you want to work specifically with php and want something even better with test unit intergration and phpdocs, the best option is phpstorm by jetbrains. The only downside is that it's costly. I have about 2 years of experience professionally with web dev and I've tried multiple ides and simple text editors including sublime text, vscode, notepad++, atom.io, phpstorm, phpdesigner, visual studio, eclipse, netbeans and others. I am currently working with vscode on an internal mvc application and i don't really need anything more than that. On another note, any software that has live editors, don't trust it. It's cool but usually what happens is while browsers update, their rendering engines change behavior of css rules. And by the time you get your dreamweaver 2016, there will be new rules in css available. Actually, even the established browsers have some major differences when it comes to rendering the page. simple example: you make an input box type=number. The outline in firefox/gecko is different from the one of chromes/webkit. What you should be doing instead, is ditch those editors and test the websites you make within proper browsers.

I actually don't know anybody who uses visual tools like Dreamweaver in a professional setting. It's rather gotten a lot more techy than it used to be, with package managers and transpilers and all sorts of wonky stuff. Last time I used Dreamweaver it was still by Macromedia, heh. ;-;

Woah!
YESSSSSSS
I still write webpages in HTML!!! Okay, so I often draft them up in MarkDown, convert that to HTML, and tweak by hand. I try to block JS, because it's *evil!!!* CSS is good, but _strictly_ speak, your fonts and colours _are_ CSS, it's just inline, and default. I'll use the odd and such, but most of the pages I write go into some other CMS, so the ultimate style-sheet is defined by the rest of the site. Personally, I think it's a basic IT skill that everyone should have some clue how to do the basic markup. The page really should have Some useful informationI didn't put any effort into this style, even if it doesn't go into the level and compliance detail, and dosen't bother defining the page properties in the header. So, your program was pretty "outdated" for before W3C had standardised the format... But it's really neat. I like the live update.
