The basics of multimeters.
Measuring voltage, amperage, continuity, resistance...it's easy to glaze over when you're not used to these terms - this video shows some easy examples of how to apply those functions to household tasks to make sure your electrical things are working like they should.
For example, is this outlet working? It should have about 120V AC (in North America, anyway) and the multimeter can show that quickly and easily.
Is the laptop broken or is it just the charger? Verifying the charger is outputting what it says it should be is simply a matter of measuring the DC voltage.
And do you need a $400 Fluke? Or will the $5 one get the job done?
