Mulloway Madness in the Surf | Beach Fishing North of Perth
Спорт
For a huge number of Western Australians, beach fishing is how we started our fishing journey. In this video, Finn and Jayson show you how to take surf fishing to the next level, targeting the elusive silver ghost (a.k.a. the mulloway or jewfish). From baits to rigs and gear to techniques, the boys go through everything you need to start targeting beach mulloway, even to the point of landing a few themselves 😉. As a bonus, they also landed a surprise baby cobia from the surf, much further south than they would usually be found. Hope you enjoy the video legends!

Thanks mate!
Lekka bra, lekka! 😂
Some decent fish there, shame about loosing that good one like you did, certainly know the feeling of loosing a good one over 20. Had a similar experience on my last one where it’s gill rakers sliced the line between the top and bottom hook. Luckily the top one hooked it perfectly and landed the fish in the end. That’s why I fish loose drag when fighting the fish after it’s been set tight in the holder. I use about a kg of drag and just go real easy to minimise pulling hooks or having a knot fail. How much drag would you usually fish when fighting them?

We only fished 1-2kg of drag on these mulloway, as there was no structure to pull them away from. Sometimes there's nothing you can do though - impossible to land every one.
Hey guys, do you always run the three way swivel for mulloway beach fishing, paternoster type set up ??

We almost always run the paternoster style rigs for beach mulloway. It allows you to use sinkers such as grapnels that help to hold ground, and suspends the bait above the bottom. For river mulloway the rig is completely different.
Where is this! And what setup and bait you using?

Using mullet and tailor for bait. Listed the gear we used in another comment. We will give a more detailed description in a future video 😉
Could you share the location please? Looking for a good spot mate.. appreciated..

101% a mulloway 😅 - under tension their pin-like teeth can grind down against the snell on the hook. Fight was very much the same as the others, and we’ve both caught our fair share of mulloway.
