The only backlash they got, as I recall, was Paul Fusco asking why they didn't so much as call him. Since they went and got the X-files people already and all...
I didn't understand this episode let alone the entire Simpsons that much as a kid, but as an adult, it's funny now.
The older Simpsons episodes have such a charm to them
X-Files. One of the best series ever created. I still remember those evenings back in the nineties. Miss those times.

@@Vlm293 yeah, it was indeed great watching those episodes when they came out. I was born in the 1980 and X-Files started in 1993/1994. I was about 14 and watched all the 9 seasons. I never watched it again ever since and still remember some memorable episodes.

i like when mulder say "FBI" with intense eye contact
lil trivia: the scene at 1:02 with the alien lineup was described by writer Al Jean as the "most illegal shot" in the show's history, as they didn't get any permission to use any of those characters - aside for the in-house character Kang/Kodos, & now Chewbacca since Disney owns Star Wars & Simpsons

Like how Mulder have a sexy picture of himself for his FBI id card and it's on screen for like a second. Writers of the classic Simpsons could sneak a joke anywhere.
Interesting Fact: When Scully mentions a shipment of guns and drugs coming in from New Jersey and Mulder says that the FBI isn't interested in a case like that, he's right. That case belongs to the ATF and DEA.

I love how everyone freaks out when Mulder and Scully identify themselves as FBI.
This and the monorail episode are easily my favorite "celebrity guest star" episodes of The Simpsons. Usually the normal episodes far outclass these kind, but these 2 were just brilliant.
