Ain't nobody not smilin when Muddy had his Mojo workin. He was part of my life. Thanks Mud.
Nervous? Never. What a guy! 😆 🤣 😂 Wish I had known his music in the 70s. I was young then. Too young to know what a treasure we had. Appreciate the opportunity to see this.
He was truly the King Bee with his busy bees working around him in perfect harmony 🐝🐝🐝
Muddy really knew how to put together an incredible blues band.

Muddy Waters Blues Band is the definition of a Blues band. They kind of set the standard.

@@johopeweisz for Chicago blues no doubt about it.
You know what even beats this? I saw Muddy in late ‘73 play University of Massachusetts in Amherst. The big difference that night compared to this show was the inclusion of Hollywood Fats on guitar alongside Bob Margolin. I couldn’t believe how well Fats played. From that point on I was a big fan of his. Everyone else also played great that night. Years later I exchanged emails with Margolin. He said to the best of his recollection it was the last gig Fats played with Muddy. I was lucky to have been there. As far as this clip goes, I particularly like Portnoy’s solo on “Blow Wind Blow.” He’s one of the greatest harp players of all time.
Remember seeing him live at the Shaboo around 75 so close I could have almost touched him - damn all these ledgends gone ..muddy, cotton, bb king ..so glad I saw all of them .. 😢sad they are gone ❤but they live on in our hearts

@@Statickzombie1996 I was already born but only got to know his music when he passed away. The interest in jazz brought me to the blues, too late to see him live in action. Indeed, thanks to KZread we are reviving this period, alongside CDs and DVDs and the many reprises of younger blues artists around the world.
Jerry Portnoy at its best. Outstanding
Saw this version of the band in 1976 and 1977 at the Outside Inn, Angola NY Muddy played all night, had all the ladies around him. I am fortunate to have heard such an accomplished and important musician. The bar closed at 4 AM and Muddy played until the lights came on a grateful crowd cheered and cheered the One ,The Only....Muddy Waters ! 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸😉😉😉

“Hard Again” was the first Blues album I ever bought. It’s still one of my favorites. I always said that all I needed on a Friday night was a twelve pack of beer, sunglasses and a Muddy Waters album and I could butt rock the night away!
Saw them on that tour in Lyon/France. Great memories 🙂
Mud , played what he felt deep down. when you have the blues , you have to play it to make your happy.
I saw this lineup many times. One Easter Sunday in a small club, I was so close bass player Calvin lean over and said "certainly is dismal weather " I was in right place at the right time alot in my life. What a sound, talk about in the pocket!

Love that harmonica
Pure talent no such thing as this on radio nowadays
I love these time capsules. The blues is the foundation of all popular music that came after it.
BEST MUDDY WATERS BAND EVER!!!

One of the best for sure.
Since Muddy on music american scene Chicago became a second cradle of the blues.
This video has a good sound, you can hear the bass. Not that frequent on Muddy's vids of this era. But you have to imagine that the real sound , was absolutely huge, not high volume, but deep, with a weird sensation of breath from the bottom. Unique experience, and that wawing sound.
What a class act ! Way before greed central took over the country ! Who needs a million a year . Greed is the beginning of blues !!!
Jerry portnoy master of the single note. Muddy had a few harp players, jerry is my favorite

So how about Little Walter (Jacobs)? "Described as "king of all post-war blues harpists", he is widely credited by blues historians as the artist primarily responsible for establishing the standard vocabulary for modern blues & blues rock harmonica players. Inducted into Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2008 (Sidemen). Born 1 May 1930 in Marksville, Louisiana, died 15 February 1968 in Chicago, Illinois."

Ok but how about Little Walter Jacobs, and Big Walter Horton? Jerry's playing is widely influenced by these two, plus John Lee Sonny Boy Williamson, teh First, ... and Sonny Terry. And a ton of unknkown precursors.
Wow! Absolutely fantastic…your all amazing…the harmonica player is amazing.. thank you
I was fortunate to see this band numerous time in the latter part of the 1970s.
Might have been a few Norwegians planning a halftime reefer before Muddy said he’d play through the break, oh what the hell, smoke ‘em if you got ‘em!
Top blues band
Jarry Portnoy briliant harp player with soul.I pplay harp and i love his simple and soul style who feed soul.Pozdrav iz Srbije
One the best❤
Missing me some Luther Johnson right now!
every musician is rockin'! תודה רבה
This is way after Mr. Muddy Waters running up and down the stage Big Walter on his back ... and also it is really wonderful to me .. I love that musical organism with and around him . as well as each member of that thing individually 💐☮️
Blues in The Blood… saw This band also w/ Johnny Winter @15yrs old… “hook set 4 life” 😎🥃
These old-timers really knew how to mix it up. Jazzed up and keeping audience enthralled unlike today's music. Muddy Waters was an original innovative performer and pacesetter in jazz music with distinct vocal styles. He's a legend.❤❤😮😮.
i love seeing the harp guy work. he is classy. i need to learn to leave space like him
Muy buens musica exelente
Seen Muddy with Eric Clapton 1978,or earlier...Student an Teacher. Eric an most of the kids that listen to him in the 1950s..Learning Chicago Blues.from the Mississippi Delta sounds

Molde, Norway in 1977! JEEEZ! I was 15-16 then, living in neigbouring Sweden! And I was in Molde in 1992! NRK = Norsk Rikskringkasting, a hilarious word for TV (just like German "Fernsehen" or Danish "fjernsyn", literally "far watching", or rather "watching from afar"... /Lusekoften
Abso-fuckin-lutely great music of blues stalwarts!

Un groupe de légende!!super le grand muddy.
Gracias! Nunca había visto este concierto, y me encantó!!!!
Cool. Thanks For Sharing.
Saw him in '80 with these guys. Muddy was too stoned to perform, singing only 3 1/2 songs, calling John Lee Hooker out to help him with Boom Boom and that was it. The band covered for him he just did a Cheshire Cat thing all night plying very little guitar and no slide or singing.
No hay nada como el blues y el reyman blues maravillosa musica que el que tiene sendido del ritmo no la deja escapar desde españa con los mejores musicos y la mejor musica de estos chicos americanos

The bass, Calvin " Fuzz" Jones, the way to play bass on blues, deep, powerful, sensitive. I don't talking about Willie Big Eyes Smith, drummerx they were a pair. The way to play " " with delay". ( Type this plus Margolin and you'll find the ultimate secret if you really want to play deep blues).
Yea.he did and him and Rory Gallagher were two of the best blues men.
