Lockdown Sessions:
As the pandemic struck most unexpectedly, Oorali's were as shaken as anyone. Performances stood cancelled and all public gatherings were forbidden . Covid 19 had made the entire world stand still. People were getting more and more confined to homes , distancing became the norm and community life was slowly disappearing. As artists we were pondering.What next?
People began asking how they could see us perform. We could sense a wave of desperation patiently spreading. How can we keep connected? How to stay afloat and motivated? We were together, had a minimal home studio intact and had android phones.
We have been streaming live since mid of March on our Facebook and Instagram pages, interacting with our audience through songs, short stories and poems. . The steady increase in viewership made us understand what art was capable of doing in such desperate times. It was holding us all together. Somehow we all had knit an interactive time every day where a lot of people could comment, get replies and share their minds interspersed with songs, poetry , stories and conversations. We are discovering a virtual social space among the computer clouds. We intend to to keep going as long as we need to, sometimes every day, maybe only on weekends, or sometimes randomly , unexpectedly we may pop up on a day when we have something to say.
