Muay Thai Changed His Whole Family’s Life | Attachai Fairtex Documentary
Спорт
Learn from Legends: www.legendarystriking.com
Attachai Fairtex’s unassuming nature and camera shyness belies an incredible story of a young kid who was thrust into a life in Muay Thai by family pressure, and rose to become one of the best fighters of his time.
Like many poor kids in the Thai countryside, Muay Thai was a mean to ease the family’s financial strain. Attachai never had the chance to think about what he wanted to do if he was not a fighter. Since 8 years old, he’s fought professionally - first in small village events, and over the years rose up the ranks in big Bangkok stadiums with huge side bets, and also representing Thailand internationally.
Attachai is known for his tricky ring craft and impeccable timing, often making his bigger opponents look flimsy and unbalanced. Watch his fights to see how he controls the ring.
------------
This project is part of a documentary series started by Angie, a Muay Thai enthusiast based in Singapore (follow her on IG to support her works): / angiewon9
A: “A question I asked Attachai that had him perplexed was, “What is your secret to becoming a champion?” If I can paraphrase his (exasperated😅) reply, it would be:
“..to put your head down and keep grinding. Whether you are winning or losing, there is always something to learn and improve on. Don’t think about the what ifs, don’t listen to what people are saying, don’t watch what they are doing. Sometimes too much of that can mess up your head, and distract you from your path. Just watch yourself and be mindful of your own progress.”

I’d love to see a breakdown of attachai’s footwork, stance and feet placement. I based a lot of my own Muay Thai on just that.

Damn thats so simple but right exactly right.
I love Attachai for trying to speak as much english as possible, even though its minimal it gives his emotions across much more than subtitles would.
This is 'what made MuayThai Fighter strong'. Every fight they've fought means their life and living cost. This is their honour.

Thanks for putting these up. The interview really let his personality shine through. I went Attachai's gym for a bit, and he really is a kind, unassuming man who just wants the people around him to be comfortable and happy. Its amazing how so many of these Thai fighters seem so placid in daily life but are utterly savage in the ring.

So calm in the ring and yet so excited in front of the camera. What an amazing warrior.
I really like these documentaries in which you show more about the individual fighters and their life stories and philosophies, very enriching!

I trained with this guy; one of the most real guys ever. An incredible trainer and mind for the sport. It's a whole different level with him. Threw me around like a rag doll. They play this game like volleyball except it's with your feet from time to time as well. Great place to train if anyone is inclined.

i write comment on the internet not often but i must say this time . your each video awesome. a short 15 min video gives a lot of feeling like watching 1,5 hour whole good quality movie . and i dont know why but specially on your old fighter interviews i end up with cry . so touchy. i feel true mean of being kind heart human being. i love Thai people and your perspective the way how you connect with them and able to capture their soul to present us .. Hope one day you come up with a cinema movie :)) like Beautiful Boxer

Despite the initial unwillingness in taking up Muaythai,(wonder if someone saw his potential or possibly economic hardship?), after all he is successful, one can be lulled by his calm and polite demeanor only outside the ring, all these plus his attempt at English earns my respect.
