I saw a guy for 5 days & broke things off because he got manipulative and told me "I wasn't ready for a relationship" (??). He proceeded to call my phone numerous times and message me on different apps even after I told him he was scaring me, wait for me outside my uni hall of residence, death stare me & my friends whenever we were in the same eating hall/class, and told all his friends I was a whore. THEN came up to me at the uni ball (I didn't see him coming so that scared the shit out of me) and ask to dance??? I've moved cities and it's been almost 2 years but he's still blocked on everything. I'm scared to think what he would've done if we'd had a thing longer than a week...

When he said “it’s just a joke” I had to pause the video and scream

for real though, besides being a dumb show, Ghosted is a way for entitled and possibly harmful people to track down exes who had a right to leave them. Like imagine if someone ghosted a person because they started to not feel safe in the relationship, so they blocked them and ran in order to protect themselves. Then imagine that the person who was ghosted used this show to find them. Who knows what could happen after filming wraps.

The routine wasn't as offensive as it was straight up unoriginal. If it was me, I'd break up with him because he's a shitty comedian.

I feel like there's been a big "anti-ghosting" movement the past couple of years, and it's always really bothered me. For the most part, I agree that ghosting can be hurtful & ideally, it's better to try communication first. And at the same time, it seems like far too many people (like Ross) have twisted this into more toxic/dangerous mindsets like "I am *always* entitled to an explanation for why someone doesn't want to have contact with me anymore, and I don't have to accept the end of this relationship until I get one I understand & agree with." As I was watching this, I was hopeful that this show might help people see these pitfalls of "anti-ghosting culture." Ross could've spent that 9 months accepting & processing the end of the relationship, self-reflecting, maybe even attending therapy. He didn't need an explanation from Jordan to do any of that. But instead, he spent it obsessing over someone who didn't want any contact with him. Even when he got the explanation he *claimed* he wanted so badly, he didn't even accept it, he continued to refuse to take any accountability & used it as an opportunity to gaslight her. It's no wonder she didn't feel safe telling him why she didn't want to be with him anymore! And yet they still ended the episode with the message that "Jordan shouldn't have ghosted him." What??

Ghosting is a coward's way out. Person ghosting might have closure but other parties don't, it's easier to process with a reason than a mystery. It happened to me before and took six months to get what I did wrong out of my head daily (was April to September 2020, so during lockdown and couldn't go out for obvious reasons) and another six months without it occasionally popping up or asked about. I'd still like to know what happened since it was so good for two years talking with 16 months dating with no disagreements but ultimately I'm too good for her if that's how she'll handle the end. So just end the relationship with understanding is over for both to move on in a healthy way.

​@@nickmoney Of course ghosting can be really harmful, but sometimes ghosting is needed in really abusive relationships. The abuser can be manipulative and able to keep the other from leaving or realizing how bad the relationship is. Sometimes, they need to be completely cut off to be escaped.

You just piss them off and you'll never escape them, so if that's the case you need to break up via text or something that can have a paper trail. If you don't and they track you down and something happens to you or your family there is no evidence or cause because you just ghosted them. Usually ghosting happens when they cheat and can't face consequences.

@@nickmoney Abusive doesn't always mean murderous, but I see your point. In those cases, the lack of paper trail can be a problem. But in an emotionally manipulative relationship where there are people who love making their friend/partner/etc feel bad about themselves, who feed off of that, the person being abused needs to get away, any way they can. A friend who will talk shit about you behind your back and never admit it to your face, a family member who will gaslight you until you start to doubt your reality, a partner who will tear you down at any opportunity. Sometimes, these people can't be reasoned with, only escaped.

Maybe my two decades in sales tells me that closing is the best option whether it be clean or dirty. Also the ex who ghosted me I recently found out has a two and half year old and confirmed have been cheating, used COVID and lockdown as cover to never tell me. I ran into her coworkers who didn't know what happened and they asked about how often see my daughter with her and it'd be impossible as we never did that dance yet. That's one reason why and what happens when you ghost I guess, shame she couldn't tell me or I'd have helped.

I had a boyfriend (only lasted for two months out of the 2 years we talked) who always made himself seem like the victim. the last straw I had was when he was acting like the victim after basically harassing multiple people (my friends and including me) and being so weird. there is a lot more detail which I won’t get into, but the most important part is he still does not know what he did wrong in this scenario. I can’t imagine how many times I turned on my friends just believing his word saying he was the victim without going further into detail. I’m so glad I haven’t talked to him since last year.

I think, there is a difference between joking/telling your friends about your significant other, and a comedian standing on a stage and making a joke about a hypothetical person, like when comedians make jokes about their "girlfriend" or "wife" or "kids" or any family or friends, I don't think they are being literal like his jokes were not specific to that girl, other than "she calls me daddy"... and like, thats not that specific at all. on the other hand, i could see how a friend, telling her friends stories about their partner is totally different and gross.

I don't think that's particularly true, he seems like a somewhat genuine guy that did really like her, but at the same time I get that the jokes weren't taken well... However, when I have friends who make jokes about me I don't leave them forever, I go to them and communicate with them, if they do it again then okay fair, she just straight ghosted him, didn't even give him a chance to apologize cuz her ego was bruised. Have you heard the shit Kevin Hart or Gabriel Iglesias says about their love lives, they said much worst jokes. Especially kevin about how freaky women he's dealt with are. she's just too sensitive, which isn't necessarily bad but she should have been mature enough to atleast communicate with him, rather than secretly go to his show to hear one bad joke, that's like me secretly going to my gf work place and hearing her say something bad about me so I dump her, it's stupid cuz I guarantee every person you been with had had thought atleast one bad thing about you.

Not the guy who knowingly made shitty and toxic stand up jokes behind his partner’s back, and then berated her for getting mad at him for it. Not the guy who tracked down his ex months after the relationship had ended, when she was already in another relationship and more time had passed since they’d been together than when they’d actually been together. Not the guy who thinks he can still be the comforting white knight, saying “it’s ok” to his crying ex after he tracked her down, made her confess her personal life in the spotlight, and then rejected her immediately after. It’s probably mostly fake anyway, because I can’t imagine she would actually still love the guy after all of this shit, so this argument is likely pointless. However, if we’re really going to moralize these people and analyze them, one is clearly more flawed than the other.

That dude seems like a venerable narcissist. The girl probably didn't know how to socialise with someone that's socially manipulative. I agree that she probably didn't wanna be on the show at first, however I suspect she got paid for it and a chance to be on telly isn't that bad a deal. I thought the crew handled her pretty well actually.....that dude however, he got thrown under the bus like hot garbage. So to be fair, if she had been emotionally mature enough to communicate like an adult with the person she was dating....none of that mishegoss would have occurred. Antisocial behaviours like "ghosting" someone is problematic in relationships and should be a red flag. The dude was (essentially) stalking her. That's why you always give them closure when you break up. 😞 I'm not saying she's entirely at fault, only that she was 50% of the problem there.

I know this video is ostensibly comedy, but I am genuinely so pissed at Ross. This dude comes in acting like a meek victim of unfair heartbreak, blatantly misrepresents the context of the relationship, is _visibly ashamed_ when his disgusting "comedy" is exposed, and then _gets upset with Jordan for overreacting‽_ At least Jordan seemed happy in that last clip of her. I watched this whole episode, and what he was actually upset about was her not confronting him. EDIT: I highly recommend watching the episode before this one: season 1 episode 1. They help two best friends reunite. It’s what I wish the whole show was like.

@@nickc3657 he knew already the jokes were inappropriate and wildly hurtful, that's why he wouldn't tell her about the comedy shows. he had every opportunity to bring it up or change his material but he kept doing it for SIX MONTHS! obviously she didn't feel safe or comfortable enough to confront him about it, he probably would've made a "joke" about that too. it's literally entirely his fault

If my partner gets involved with bad shit that I don't wanna be apart of, I'm out of there. You are not entitled to an explanation as to why your partner no longer wants to be involved with you if you have done something like this. The lack of communication was his fault, not hers. @@rosieandre6121 (coming from a bisexual) correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t pan/poly/omnisexuals technically bisexual as well? Like they’re more specific terms the same way that agender/genderfluid/bigender/other are all part of the non-binary and transgender umbrella terms. So then obviously it’s totally fine for you to just say you’re bi as well, even if you know you are more specifically omni. Also, slightly unrelated but can you describe your own definition of omnisexuality? I’ve only heard one other person’s experience before and I’m curious just how universal that was (so I can THEN see how accurate my own definition is! C: )
