My aunt was a producer on this show. She said the most difficult episode was a hip hop artist named Redman. Dudes place was basically a trap house and he refused to stop smoking weed so it was hell for the editors to try and cut it all. If you look closely in many shots you'll smoke because there was just no way to edit around it.

Coincidentally, the red man segment was not only my favorite showcase, it was the ONLY one I remember from back then. Can't remember a fuckin thing about the other rich Joe schmoe ass cribs with little personality, even though I watched it a fair bit. But I sure as shit remember Redman giving a tutorial on how to hot wire his doorbell just for it to work lmao.

I always remembered Mariah Carey's episode, and how she said she would never wear the same pair of socks twice. I felt betrayed when I learned that she faked the episode though(so much that she's more or less credited for ruining the illusion they had going), mainly because my dumbass adopted the habit of rarely ever wearing my socks more than once(tbf to myself, idk what it is but my socks get holes in them by the third or fourth time I even wash them, I also wouldn't be shocked if her bit about the socks was true because she's just that rich and buying 2-3 packs of socks a month isn't the biggest expense on the planet)

Its really funny to me how much Chris Angel idolizes Houdini, because based on what i know about Houdini he would have HATED Chris. He was very involved in the "anti-spiritual" movement, constantly debunking physics and the like. He would have hated that Chris uses editing for his "tricks" and all the "mind freak" bullshit. He probably would have written an entire book on why Chris Angel is a fraud, because he was that petty. Also fun fact because for some reason I know magician lore: There's only been one magician ever given permission to do Houdini's famous lightbulb trick, and that was Siegfried and Roy's protege, Darren Romeo.

I always figured this show was both boring and ridiculous, so thank you for making the episodes entertaining. I must say.... Criss' tours were exactly as expected. Was simultaneously surprised AND unsurprised that Soulja Boy's place looked like that, and that most of his money went to jewelry and Hot Pockets. Lil Jon's music has always been obnoxious, but I found him oddly charming here. The weird plant moment. How he lets these guys just chill out at his house and play ball. The makeshift booth. He seems relatively humble and friendly. Like, you could maybe hang out with him for a few hours without feeling totally drained. Even if he does wear shades, lacks an inside voice, and carries a weird chalice nearly 24/7. His episode so far is the only one that improved my perception of the celebrity.

Most people already found out that some of those celebrities were showing off houses that they didn’t own and cars that they rented for the show… For example, Bow Wow, Ja Rule, 50 Cent, and JoJo.

You should've shown Redman's cribs episode. That was the realest one out of all of them. He had his cousin sleeping on the floor at his house and all lol. That's the only one i like lol.

Yeah, I think MTV Cribs would definitely not work today, but I love Soulja Boy's and Lil Jon's place. It's so fun, in contrast to Chris "Holy Shit, what Dracula house is this?" joint.

I can't remember who it was but it was a southern rapper who showed off his "hood house" which was basically a shack with no furniture and the cabinets falling off the walls. It was a very surreal episode.

Talking about shows that couldn't be aired today, oddly enough, I'd say Mike & Molly. They only ended in 2016, but the writing reminds me of 1990s sitcoms where the elderly people are entirely allowed to say common elderly person things. The last family-related sitcom to ever make me laugh.

To this day it's the only Cribs episode I remember at all. Chris you should at least check it out on your own time. Like seriously its mind blowing.
