@@cynthiasmith4130 we are on the outside looking in. he has had substance abuse problems for a long time. Jon has his band members as his employees where he is their boss. Truth is Richie's role in the band became much more and I don't think Jon did everything he could to do or show his very important role in the band. He has admitted to being a control freak so maybe keeping Richie as just another employee was his way of staying in control. Richie was really half co singer and co song writer just like Jon BUT those were the reasons why he was hired in the first place BUT Richie sorta kinda became a STAR just under Jon
Sambora never got enough credit for how good he could sing.

but that is how it is in all bands as well as any business. this is a business first. the lead singer always had a great singer with them but they desire to still be first. Mariah Carey was backup for some time before coming out as a solo singer. the singers she backed up could NOT sing as well as she did. Chris Stapleson the red hot country singer is another example. he wrote number one songs and sang and played in the studio only before being very successful all on his own.

again, most of the attention and spotlight will be on the sexy hot handsome front man. all the rest of the band's job is to make him look and sound better with their awesome skills. but most of the fans of this group know all their names and know exactly what they do and pay attention to all of them which does not happen in most groups at all. this is really special cause most of the background players with famous lead singers are pretty much not noticed too much at all. that is how it is with singers like keith urban, the jonas brothers, late michael jackson, elton john, etc. most do not know any of their supporting musicians backing them.
1993!!! Those backing vocals have always blown me away! This is the Bon Jovi I grew up with and will always remember! It's not really Bon Jovi if Richie isn't in the line up! #truth

+crewcutter2030 Yeah, but this wasn't played the way it's recorded. The actual show was much longer, with bigger breaks in between the songs and several songs played twice. It's still a great performance though, I wouldn't mind a short show like this over a 3 hour show they do nowadays. Jon is actually singing here, imagine that. :-)
