Richard Bona's 5 string Fodera was the first bass I've seen with an olive wood top. This bass looks and sounds great!

Fantastic playing Jody! The olivewood looks fantastic. The sound came through for the most part on the video, but everyone should be aware that it's even better in person. I've also never seen an MTD 5/6 string with a 34 inch scale. That must make it that much more comfortable down in 1st position.

Nice playing and excellent demo as always. But it seems you mistakenly unchanged the description of the EQ setting with "Slight Bass/Mid Boost".

hi, What are the strings in bass?

As on MTD basses, these are MTD strings (see the yellow silk?) probably best strings there is! give them a try ;)

  • @zechariahfrink3707

Dragan Rokvic Actually the strings that come with an MTD custom bass are made by Dean Markley. A lot of guys that play MTDs play Dean Markley strings so that may have been a factor as to why that is. VERY few string companies have that high of quality.

Zechariah Frink I dont have experience with Dean Markley, however, I have MTD strings, the silk on the top looks the same (yellowish colour) like on the MTD bass in the video. It is also exposed core on B string, easy to spot, just like MTD strings...

Zechariah Frink this is incorrect now. Michael switched to La Bella strings to make his strings many years ago.

tipico809 get ‘dictionary for dummies it worth it afford you can’ then learn how to put those words into coherent sentences before making comments on KZread for the entire world to see just how stupid you really are. I’m sorry but unfortunately you are entirely too stupid to play this bass anyway. As a matter of fact, I’m convinced that you shouldn’t have possession of a bass period, if for no other reason than saving the good name of the real bass players left in the world. With all due respect I sincerely plead with you now, please leave the bass and whatever sanctity is remaining to people smarter than yourself. I know that your mom says that you are a pretty fart smeller, I mean smart fellow so I suggest if you go back to the music store that you leave with nothing more than that silly grin that is on your face at this very moment and speaking of your face, wipe that slobber off of your chin please. Thanks!

+Jared Bauer Why? Everyone knows what a Jazz sounds like, what is there to review? They are all pretty much the same. The beauty of Boutique instruments, is that no 2 are the same. You could spend forever just reviewing every new MTD that comes out. They'd all have they're own character.

Well, while I understand what you mean I have to say that holding in your hands a beatiful instrument made by luthier like this delivers completely different feeling compared to generic instruments like Fender`s. Even tone aside. It can inspire you to play more, much more. I can say this since I have pre-gibson Tobias Basic.

I replaced the MTD pickups and preamp on my MTD 5 string with EMG DC 40 and preamp with the Spector tone pump. Sounds better. The extra holes were filled in with a dummy tone pot and knobs.
