MTB - Patricks Plunge - Hoogekraal

Спорт

Hey Girls and Guys!!
We are back with the final piece of the puzzle the Hoogekraal, the infamous "Patrick's Psycho Plunge"!
Its not as psycho as the name leads you to believe. Its actually a beautiful piece of trail that is well worth a visit. There are two ways to get to the trail. The first option (the easiest) is to cycle up Malanshoogte Road and enter Hoogekraal from the back. The second option is to do the full Hoogekraal loop. As you finish Trail Z (Welvergenoegd) you will continue on for a bit before you have an option to take a left to Patricks Plunge and Faircape or take the shortcut back. Keep left.
The trail is rated a blue trail and is1.4km long. Its a bit loose at the moment but thats because the summer sun has dried everything out. The beginning bit is a bit tight with 2 jumps which can be avoided so keep looking up. In the video I do mention a bit of a roller coast section. The humps do tent to kick a bit but if you are in a neutral position you will be fine.
This trail can be ridden by an advanced beginner all the way up to pro level.
If you like this video, pack in those climbing legs and head out to experience something very few do.

Thanks guys for your videos, it's so interesting for me to see what I may be capable of. I am very curious to see how the "up back" part is?

I am of the opinion that unless you already find yourself in that part of the world, the effort is almost not worth it as you end up ascending all the way back up to the top of the climb out of Cobra. Basically, from the finish of Patrick's Plunge, you steadily climb some steep, sharp switchbacks all the way to the point where the Welvergenoegd descent crossed over the wooden stile by the bottom of Cobra, before you climb that hill all the way to the top of the mainline descent. I almost forgot, that there are some short, sharp climbs to the top of Patrick's Plunge too. By the time you get there, your legs are shaking and your lungs are burning and if you're anything like me, sweating bullets too. Not saying don't go, but make sure you packed you climbing legs for the day you decide to tackle it.

Hey Yolanda! Yeah, not going to lie and say its a breeze hahaha. Its a little bit of a pedal. But like us, take your time and you will be just fine. Its a beautiful side of the farm that very few get to experience.
