Watching this in hospital. Collarbone and 9 fractures over 5 ribs on one side. Just a bloody pedal strike on a boring simple trail I’d ridden a hundred times.

That’s when it happens. I was shaking down my bike, after making adjustments, on a green trail I had ridden a hundred times. Bike felt amazing and dialed so I sent it and then just all hell broke loose when a feather literally crumbled under me. Just had my surgery today, I pretty much exploded my collar bone.

there is over 12 cases of this injury some needs about a year to recover! I ride Enduro and I broke my collarbone right in the middle going over the bars on the downhill track of the bikepark in my case I need 3 month to get back on the horse with 0 risk, 6 weeks with a small risk of fracturing it again, my friend had his injury some time in march and he only started riding this week cause he basically not only broke his collarbone he tore the ligaments that connect it with the shoulder I think they call them the CC ligaments. as general info bones in a healthy non smoker who is below the age of 50 should heal completely within 100 days, this number reduces and increases according to age, health, diet and life style, a smoker would require about twice the time needed for a non smoker to get the same result.

I've broken both my collarbones (at different times) and it's very painful for the first week or so. There's not much you can do to avoid it though... If you fall on your shoulder a certain way, it's just gonna break!

Just brake it again, maybe they can do something then ;) Really... if it's broken and not perfectly aligned do youselves a favor and do surgery! It doesn't even have to be a metal plate and screws, if you're lucky they can use metal wires and the scar will be very small ;)

Most of the time you don't need to take it out. But many people do, because it bothers them. If it doesn't bother you, spare yourself another serious surgery. But when a second doctor says that iut has to come out too, then maybe ignore what I'm saying ;)
