Mt. Charleston Las Vegas - Ski and Snow 1 hour from The Strip

Did you know there is snow and skiing about an hour from the Las Vegas Strip and 45 minutes from Aviano by Toll Brothers? Check out our video on Aviano by Toll Brothers • $507,995 Skye Canyon S... .
Weather patterns in the Spring Mountains can be drastically different than what the Las Vegas Valley experiences.
-winter enough snow for skiing (low of 19 F)
-summer is quite a bit cooler, if you need to escape the heat (gets up to about 80 F)
Web cam - mtcharlestonweather.com/webcam/

Cons/things to watch out for
-Far from shopping/dining/etc
-During the colder months, snow can create road hazards that require chains or snow tires. It also draws crowds looking to play in the snow, but with that comes traffic and intermittent road closures where visitors must turn around. Road conditions are updated by NDOT and closures will be shared on their Twitter feed as quickly as possible
Wild Horses & Burros
-It is quite a sight to turn a corner and see a burro crossing the road, or walk into a clearing and find wild horses grazing. These animals are protected under the 1971 Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act, and interfering with, handling, and feeding them is illegal. Besides the hefty fine, there is a high risk of being bitten or trampled because they are wild animals, so please keep your distance.
