Haha, damn! Thanks--And what a weird joke. It's just gloriously gruesome ; ) Some of their jokes back in the day went so deep a fair amount of them would whizz past my perception. But I was fairly young when I first started watching them. I love and that Mike, Kevin and Bill continued on with Rifftrax.

This movie seems like a extremely complicated D&D campaign.

This is my favorite episode for irrational reasons. So comforting and still hilarious after all these years.

Joel's delivery of "DO WHAT I DO" during the invention exchange is hilarious.

Cave Dwellers was actually the first MST3K episode I saw and might actually be my favorite. My favorite part was probably the flashback scene with lines like; "this plot is harder to follow the tokken" and "objects in shield are larger than they appear" were all hilarious. I miss MST3K so much.

Their parody of the opening credits at 23:00 had me in tears

Starting off season 3 strong with "Cave Dwellers." This was the first MST3K episode I ever saw and watching after watching it again, I am relieved to find that it's just as hilarious as the first time.

One of those riffs when I’m not sure why it makes sense, but it just hits hard on the funny bone.

If the John Saxon type guy lived today he would be a coffee barista.

While we may disagree on who the best host (I like Joel best myself) I think we can all agree that Dr Forester and TV's Frank were the best villains. Also Kevin Murphy and Trace Beaulieu had the best voices for Tom and Crow.

I think that hang glider caught me more off guard than anything in any movie ever.

Oh, thank you ! I thought i was the only one to find that perfectly unsettling XD Based on the progression of the scenes with her dad & Freddie Mercury, it looks like she got there in under twenty minutes. But even if you decide to roll with the movie, and believe that it did take her much longer than that, she gets there with the arrow still in her shoulder, not a drop of blood on her clothes, clean hair, not hungry... *keeps on with this list until the break of dawn* C'm'on, movie : help me to help you !

I love how the cave floor is completely flat and has no obstacles.

So apparently...Lisa Foster, the female lead, directed two cutscenes in Parasite Eve and in other games. Life is such a random random event.

Other than Joe Don Baker and Tojo Studios, the only ones I that I ever heard got upset with MST3K was the people of "Time Chasers." (title edited; tx JvF below.)

Yeah, the "Time Chasers" crew were more bummed than angry - MST3K paying for the rights to riff on the movie actually helped them pay off the film costs and see some profit, so they were in high spirits, and then they watched the riffed version, and, uh... they were NOT expecting the commentary to be as caustic as it was. Some of the MST3K cast later said that was one of the best movies they ever had to mock.

I met the director of Zaat (aka Blood Waters Of Dr Z) randomly once and he wasn't too pleased I only knew the movie from MST3K. But that seemed to be more because they didn't really license the rights, said they just went ahead and made the show before they'd worked out a licensing fee.

Joel Robinson as that mean John Saxon-type guy. I'm dead. XD

I have a ton of nostalgia for this episode. This was the first episode I ever saw (the MST Hour version). Then I saw Pod People and I was hooked.

Pod people and cave dwells are two of the best, and if u watch carefully, u will notice that the opening credit scenes are not from the films. Matter of fact, they are from completely different films. Check it out again and get back to me so I can make sure I'm not crazy.

I liked the closing credits for their mock credits play went to "Mother, Jugs and Speed"

"Alright, ya crummie rats, Henry Kissinger says, 'Merry Christmas!'" This had me in bits the first time! Brilliant.

Miles wasn't just a sport about it. After this episode first aired he contacted the producer of MST3k and requested a video copy of the episode.

I think one reason why their recreation of the title sequence is so funny is that they had the music playing over the sounds they were making rather than replacing them. All the hollow, plastic sounds take it over the top.

It was the 80's. There were posters that said "How can you hug your children with nuclear arms?" and Sting was singing lyrics like "I hope the Russians love their children too". Everybody had a message back then. (...tbh I think "Red Skies" by the Fixx was the coolest)

It's astonishing to me that the previous Ator movie turned enough of a profit to make a sequel financially worthwhile. How did more than ten people sit through it without asking for their money back? Also, when the pseudo-samurai show up at about the 48 minute mark might be the saddest part. You can smell the desperation to steal some cred from classic movies, but it only reminds you that you'd be better off watching one of them.

Uh, folks, we have snakes GROWLING here.

I always wondered if Cave Dwellers was one of those deals where the pilot episodes of a failed TV show were stuck together to make a "movie" of sorts. It would explain the dodgy editing and why Ator's entire life history was crammed into a five minute flashback at the beginning instead of being explained gradually. There definitely seem to be a couple of obvious "fade to commercial" moments in there too.

Here's a list of all the MST3K movies that FVI got their mitts on: Pod People - originally Los Nuevos Extraterrestres (The New Extraterrestrials), also goes by Extra-Terrestrial Visitors, The Unearthling and The Return of ET. The credits are clips from a movie called Galaxy Invader. Cave Dwellers - originally Ator: The Invincible, also goes by The Blade Master. The credits are clips from a movie called Taur: The Mighty. Space Travelers - originally Marooned. This the only MST3K film that won an Oscar. Being From Another Planet - originally Time Walker. Stranded in Space - originally the pilot for a TV show called The Stranger. The credits are clips from Prisoners of the Lost Universe.
