Great video. Wouldn't know where to put my hands without your video. Thanks a lot! I just don't understand why MSI makes it so complicated. My laptop didn't turn on after finishing the upgrade, then I find out one little flat cable hadn't been inserted properly. Then still didn't turn on, then just plugged the power cable and the thing was on like magic. What a happy moment! Haha Will definitely don't do an upgrade again on an MSI. Ever! lol

You were right, it is pretty complicated (more of a hassle than technically complex). It's too bad they didn't design it to have better access for those upgrades. I have a bulging battery I need to replace as well as upgrade my SSD. This will make my life much easier. Thanks!

WOW. the MSI is infinitely more tedious to upgrade than the Razer Blade which was a cinch and took only a few minutes. No way am I comfortable upgrading the MSI myself - that's why there are people like you :) Thanks for the video and confirming my suspicion as to how tedious this one would be.

Lovely walkthrough, thanks for sharing your knowledge. Recently purchased a new NVME SSD for my GS63 and boy I am not looking forward to that process. Fully agree, MSI does not seem to like us upgrading our devices. Just opened mine, but looks like the adhesive under my battery is much more resistant than on the device in the video.. Currently wondering if I can get away with leaving the battery and being even more conscious about connectors...

Thanks for your walkthrough. Mine did not post or even power up during the upside-down test. Took it back apart repeated everything still the same. No power. Thought-- "Let's hookup the power supply!" Bam. Started right up. Installed: Crucial 32 gb dd4-3200 ct2k16g4sfra32a Samsung 870 Pro 2tb nvme m2 ssd model mz-v8p2t0 Was little worried as the old drive is the 2 tooth m+b key and the new one is the single m key. Likewise the memory is higher-end. But showed compatible when I looked it up. Samsung magician reports sequential read at 3472 MB/sprite at 3233 MB/s and random read at 482421 IOPS write at 159912 IOPs. Thanks again!

i’m watching this video to upgrade my unit’s SATA HDD to a SATA SSD. I drained the battery beforehand, and while following along with the disassembly, it appears that all I need to do in my use case is to disconnect the SATA ribbon from the MOBO and remove the Hard Drive, move the SATA ribbon from the old drive to the SSD, and place it all back in, reconnecting the ribbon back to the motherboard. I also disconnected the battery for safe measure. Is there any reason I’d need to remove the MOBO or battery, etc, for what I’m doing, or is that just for M.2 NVMe upgrades?

Thank you for this. It was too out of my comfort zone so took mine to a store to upgrade SSD, HDD and install new RAM, with all the parts bought myself. A few days later I go to pick it back up, and the store told me the RAM was DOA (didn't even call me so I could get a replacement), the SSD clone failed, and they installed Windows 11 without my permission to boot. Why did the clone fail, and is that standard PC repair store practice? Feel cheated.

I like the manner you describe all the parts of the laptop (concerning hardware and other parts, e.g) and the whole assembling process. I own a MSI Modern 15-A11MU 15.6" FHD (i7-1165G7/8GB/512GB SSD) model since January 2022 and I have only upgraded its RAM system, by adding a 8GB RAM card. Now I will add a Samsung SSD 980 Pro I bought a month ago and I will replace the battery with a new one I had ordered and it arrived to me 2 weeks ago. I want to clone the data (windows, software etc) of the main SSD of the laptop to the new SSD. The MSI Modern model I own has many similarities to the MSI Stealth Model (I think it is a great laptop) you own, concerning its parts, but it's easier to disassemble/assemble it, to replace its battery and add SSD. I don't have to disassemble and reassemble all these parts, in order to place SSD etc in the opposite surface of my laptop, but I have to add it in the main surface of its motherboard. Thanks again for your video and your meticulous description of the process. Love the dog in the middle of the duration of the video and in 38:30...hehe😂
