2 great saws! I love the 5 series Husqvarna saws but that 261 is nice too. Especially once you get done with it!

Not gonna lie the 550 sounds great kinda makes me want one.

My buddy has buyers remorse! My 550 runs circles around his 261!!

The Stihl will outlast it by a fair margain when it comes to longevity. The crank bearings in the 550 are garbage.

I would say the 550 puts the spanking on that stihl! But I'll bet the stihl with a good muffler mod and letting it break in, would be a good setup. Can't wait to see them ported!

Be cool to put the 4910 stock against that stihl just so all the haters can hate. Hahaha

The 261 sounds sickly….got one never heard it do that

Husky narrow kerf sp33 semi-chisel is faster than Stihls standard kerf rm3 semi- that aside, the Husky clearly has more power stock. The husky also weighs nearly a pound more.

Had in my hands both mk1 and MK2 cylinder at the same time. Just looking at the lower transfer polishing and size difference you can see how that mk2 was built to outcut the 261. Anyway, had a 550mk1 and now a jonsered 2253, and with their lightweight and still great Power i like em a lot.

Love the 550 MK2, it's my Go-TO Saw for Small Wood :) that 261 however sounded quite lean in my opinion. The stock one I ran once (also M Tronic) had a distinct 4 stroking at wide open throttel no load. Maybe the M Tronic needs a bit more time.

My guess is that when you are done with both the 261 will be the faster of the two. Cant wait to see the gameplan and the ported saws in action.

550xp II is one of my favorite saws, Stihl probably has a new 50cc in the making! I’m more of a Husky guy but if they have the formula for the 462c or 500I for smaller saws Husky is in trouble! But they feed off each other it seems haha

That Husky seems to really wake up in the upper rpm for some reason.

Need to try a calibration on the Stihl.

Do you have to do that calibration procedure on the stihl? When it slows down you can here the something clicking really fast like antilock brake pulsation. I assume that the fuel is being metered??

Both good runin saws buddy my moneys on the sthil as far as durability. An ported it will definitely last alot longer from what i have watched an seen an heard. Be cool to see tho.

the stihl will be a little slower because it cutting the curf as a 3/8 chain and the husq is not

550xp takes awhile to break in, at least mine did. Which do you think will be stronger with port work?

I have both saws but my 261 is standard carb and it runs tit for tat with my 550xp mark2 that 261cm you have is kind of doggy in the cut some thing is not right with it. It should do better than that. both of my saws are bone stock
