I find mre reviews so relaxing for some reason

Good for including your little one. I did with mine too when she was that age. She's a marine now. My two boys are 11 and 12. We actually got a vacuum sealer and we make our own "MRE's" for our fishing hunting and camping trips. It's a lot of fun for them to figure out foods that will remain stable and they learn about nutrients and good choices for consistent energy. Plus they have a lot of fun making them. Maybe your little one would enjoy that too! Thanks for the vids, brother. Peace from Colorado

hey kiwi dude, normally when i was in the army, we didnt heat the cheese spreads. we just tended to knead it a bit then squeeze it onto the breads in the MRE's.

I like MREs but it's roughly $80 for 12 of them, 12 will get you through 4 days at 3 meals a day, a little longer if you only eat once or twice a day but at that price you can have better options.

I always fall for the trap of this menu, its usually rainy halfway through a crap day you dig through the boxes and low n behold you find this menu and you think to yourself heck yes bbq sounds great, 5 minutes later and ! bite in to your meal you quickly regret your decision after you have a flash back from the other hand full of times you fell for it and realize the bbq is just brown ketchup...ugh

I'd like to say one more thing about this ration: the included BBQ sauce seems like over-kill (considering what the meal is), and the lack of a dessert causes me to make a sad face :( .

Jaybird196 It was a BBQ lovers dream, but yes - replacing the BBQ sauce with Hot sauce would have been perfect. I enjoyed this one so much I didn't even notice the lack of dessert at the time. It was only when someone pointed it out in the comments. This may be the first U.S. MRE I've come across without something outwardly sweet in it.

my family is from mullins sc. it's an incredibly small, country town. highlights include driving and we used Fred's and Marion. it's a great place actually.

I have no idea how this showed up in my suggestions lol but it's pretty entertaining lol.

You woulda thought if they opened to check it, they'd be checkin out the FRH cause it can be activated with water so may be hazordous in their eyes. However, the beans? Maybe one of the inspectors was hungry, tried to take them, got caught and had to put them back lol you never know with stuff like that. Also, a bit amazed there is a beef MRE being a popular menu for 2014, seeing as beef prices have skyrocketed past few years at least here in the States. Must be a rather expensive one for them to produce compared to others. As for the pretzels and cheese spread, pretzels with jalapeno cheese to dip in is an amazing snack. I've had it myself before, or something rather similar. Pretty nice, and nice review man. Also, I hate those new "sleeves". They annoy me lol I like the boxes better to put the food in to heat.

Necrodius Ironically, by cutting into the exterior bag they actually made it unsafe for flight. I understand that U.S. MRE FRH's can be taken on commercial airliners as long as they're contained within the sealed outer bag. Some other ration suppliers get around this by not having the salt in the pouches, thus requiring a separate pouch of saltwater to activate. I really loved that this one came with tortillas, it would have been perfect with one more pack as there was a lot to filling. Totally agree with you on the sleeves too!

+BornFancy Why? What about those who hate or can't stand certain foods/ingredients of which may taste too overwhelming to some? Some kids have hyper sensitive or strong bitter taste receptors. Do you think kids are being difficult in choosing what they want to eat or are the parents are the ones being difficult in forcing their kids to eat more of a certain thing that they can't stomach. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying parents just let kids eat fast/fried foods as they wish but let them have a a say in what meat and veggie dish to eat. People have the right to choose. Of course choose reasonably.

+Onward 123 a child offered a wide variety of foods with encouragement or seeing that someone else likes them is more apt to eat like crystal does and like I did as a child. And picky people bug the crap out of me because it's not about hating a certain food or two it's about only eating a certain food or two and they will never venture outside of their comfort zone not even to something like asparagus. I was a chef a well trained European worked chef and it drives me crazy to work hard and making a delicious meal and someone eats two things on the plate. picky is far different as I said than just hating a few foods.

Your girl seemed to really enjoy that MRE! Thats cool. This is the first video of yours Ive seen. I'm about to dive in to the rest.

The cheese sauce was actually meant for the pretzels. That is also why the pretzels are sticks, to make them easier to dip into the cheese package.

The only MRE I've ever eaten was an american one, the main course was a big rectangular chunk of meat, it wasn't very tasty. I think the meal was "Chicken Breast" or somethinv similar, that was years ago though.

There is a "chicken breast filet" one that you crush up in mayonnaise. Actually makes a delicious chicken salad. Regular MRE chicken breast doesn't sound all too great though.

this was my first mre that i ate for lunch today. and it was really good, much better than i thought.

I'm kind of shocked they would include almonds in an MRE, there are a few toxic chemicals we learned about in the military that "smell like almonds"

There are different types of almonds The bitter ones have cyanide, but the sweet ones are perfectly safe

+Master Bearer not saying almonds are dangerous, but wouldn't want to have false alarms due to someone eating their dinner nearby the NBC tent.

Oneofdazzz Bitter almonds cannot be sold in the US, so they would not have to worry about anything.

How do almonds taste bitter? The ones I eat taste bitter with a teeny bit of flavour sweet almond taste :l

I ate nothing but MRE's for a few weeks, the first few are ok but then they start getting boring, and bland

This one looked so good! Adorable at the end with the daughter too :)

WOW ! I tried this without any expectations, good or bad. Although there are too many calories in this meal to use it as a substitute for a school lunch, it makes an AWESOME meal ! The seasonings are outstanding. The selection and diversity of the items included in the packet were appealing and nutritionally sound. ! I'd give this meal a burp, a sigh and 2 yums.

The cheese was for the pretzels

I just put the cheese in the BBQ beef and mashed the beans together and walla, DELICIOUS MEAL lol.
