The first part of this video I shot as a US Army broadcast journalist in Afghanistan in 2012 when I was a Staff Sgt. I’m now a 1SG with a MPAD unit. The video is of me driving the armored vehicle also the the vehicle driving around a training track at camp leatherneck.. It cool to see my video still being used.

There were designs for 5-100 kiloton yield nuclear anti tank mines in the 1950s and 60s. The US engineered a variant that was intended for use on the border with the USSR. It was a compact, dirty design, that was intended to bar passage into Europe, in the event of world war 3, by irradiating a chunk of land so badly that ven those in a tank would be at serious risk and would need to find another way. It used an enclosed chicken as a heat source to keep the electronics from freezing up in the winter. They'd install a small vent fan to keep fresh air to the live chicken, who'd be enclosed with food and water for a month or so.

Really cool to see some recognition for South Africa's old days... night vision and many other things came from here... Now after apartheid ended, we cannot even keep power stations running , count money or manage crime. Corruption is king and kids grow up inspiring to attack cash in transit vehicles with bombs... One of those went off recently not too far from my home. Democracy is good and all, but it should be mandatory that people in power must pass some sort of exam before they are allowed to make decisions that affect millions of people.

We enjoy working with the US military to continue development of our own active vehicle protection systems which use not only an innovative belly plate design (which could be bolted onto the V shaped hull) to improve protection and reduce deformation in the event of a mine blast, but also active rocket motor systems which keep the vehicle on the ground rather than it being thrown up into the air!

They weigh as much as a Bradley, cost as much as a Bradley, have few to no armaments, have less armor than a Bradley, have more height than a Bradley, and only carry 4 or 6 dudes? All some jihadi needs to do is build a bigger bomb and then what? Raise the ground clearance to 5 miles up in the air so you turn the wheel slightly and the ve-hicle does 16 barrel rolls? I don't understand it...sounds like they're trying to engineer themselves out of bad tactics.

Sure . Means of “exporting democracy “ One thing I learned during my time with the military : If ya fight for the wrong cause and for the wrong people it’s useless. If ya fight so corporates can get rich , the politicians can take votes and get even more powerful then it don’t matter . You are already on the losing side. All the blood , sacrifices , and the dead are simply a waste of effort, good man , and stupid naive idiots like me. I have learned the hard way. Some probably will never learn.
